New Call of Duty Black Ops 3 update adds Micro Transactions

Can't wait for the day when you literally win by paying more money than your opponent

You already missed it.

Well, but a lot of those Gobblegums are useless if you play Zombies seriously. They added the ability to turn gums into Divinium as well, so it's not that bad.

Also tha tis coop, so if some fool wants to spend all that money to get gums let him. It's going to help you out in the end.

I really hate that mona lisa image. Call of duty definitely has some shitty DLC policies, but this one does nothing to deny your experience, fragment the player base, or give you an advantage over others in a competitive mode.

Do supply drops still give duplicate items? Because that would be fucked if you spent money on unlocks to get shit you already had.

That's shitty. I stopped playing sometime after the third DLC pack dropped, so I must have missed the crazy stat guns.

You could buy supply packs giving you a better chance of Elite guns, just more dice rolls for guns that had superior stats. So it was pay for more percentage chance at owning guns that gave you an advantage.

I am not going to entertain such crap ever again, lessons learnt.

Also COD AW lagged like hell for me, COD BO3 I typically get 15 ms each game and I am not playing against eastern european countries living in UK, it seems all local or mostly.

COD BO3 regained my love for PVP shooters, no micro or RNG shit that matters and low ping games.....heaven....

There is no other console game I know that is even close to BO3, it like playing LAN every game and no micro crap that matters.
I gave up Destiny a few weeks ago and not been back, at all.

Oh shit, I totally forgot Advanced Warfare's guns had different stat variations. It actually made that much of a difference?

Bal Obsidian Steed, HBR3 Insanity, ARX Hole Puncher and the infamous ASM Speakeasy were completely overpowered when they came out. Never fixed too, which was neat.

If you play Zombies you get liquid Divinium. You can use those to get random one time use Gums that can give you a special ability or spawn an item for example.

I hate games where progression is RNG based as much as microtransactons, AW sucked bad

I remember leaving destiny just as dark below / Crota landed as was tired of the RNG rubbish, went back for TTK and left again a few weeks ago (RNG annoying crap again 311 guns for days when others got 320's for HM raid and Light house...tired bungie...).

Honestly I didn't even know where to buy them when I played last night. It's so easy to get Cryptokeys that I don't see any reason and none of the items affect gameplay so who cares? It's content somebody spent time and money making so they can charge for it like everything else in the world.

It was obvious from the jump they would use MT for black market. Only thing I really want from it is calling cards

That would be crazy if you pay and STILLget duplicates

Yeah I just equip gold camos anyway or the art of war white one and be done, and cant even be bothered to change specialist boasts and taunts, dont care a damn, and witha KD > 2 and 100 1 st place medals got ages ago you would think I would get tired of listening to the same end game stuff.

Gaming in 2016 pay to win

This picture annoys me so god damn much.
Whoever made this was thick enough to think $60 in 1999 is worth the same as $60 in 2015. And then you 'still' get muppets reposting it as if they're proving a point.

And that doesn't even begin to take into consideration the cost of how developing the stupid things has increased. Infuriatingly stupid picture.

Side note: I see other people have already called it out. I saw it and immediately replied to it in a fit of righteous fury and didn't check any of the other responses. My bad!

Personally I don't mind the whole thing that much because I can earn this stuff for free and they give you a decent variety of skins just to unlock. My only criticism would be that all the unlock patterns are the same for all the guns. Having unique ones would be more interesting.

TF2 is free though.

Except it formerly wasn't.

And if this microtransaction bullshit in CoD follows current trajectory from previous times this has been done, expect Activision to go the Overkill route instead of the Tripwire/Valve route.

Cost isn't the point of that picture. You're literally paying the same (more) for
less
/"same" content.

If anything that picture should be modified to have the "microtransaction" slides be all different colors. It'd be pretty accurate then.

Patching it in after just to keep reviewers from discussing microtransactions is fucking horseshit.

Stand by your product and whatever decisions you make, adding it on after the reviews is so sneaky.

Poor form.

This is hilarious to me because a few nights ago my friend was talking about how they weren't going to ever tie microtransactions to supply drops. I told him to trust me that they would.

With my experience with Advanced Warfare bring unplayable if you have any DLC installed I can safely say...fuck off Activision!

I think people are missing the point. i have been playing the game every day for a month and a half now and i still fucking hear 'One shot, one kill, wont even hear it coming' at the end of every round. The drop rates on some of this stuff is ridiculous.

Sure they are cosmetics, but its part of the game. I have put in over a 100 hours i think and i still dont have a different call out? at best i have like 5 different taunts and boosts for my characters but no call out whatsoever. a hundred hours and i am still hearing the generic call out for each character at the end of the game.

this isnt as bad as Destiny latest ripoff, but its continuing destiny's tradition of locking stuff behind RNG instead of simply letting us earn this stuff.

Stop posting this bullshit already please. The pic has nothing to do with this topic here.

It is just for cosmetic items, no gameplay element. Plus they increased the drop rate for the ingame currency too.

This is just for increasing your tries on the RNG system for random cosmetic stuff. Not your chances, everyone is having the same chance. No gameplay elements. No rare items you only get for real money.

It might not be completely accurate, but the point it is trying to make is obvious.
That gamers have a tendency to misunderstand and/or blatantly ignore the content that comes in a game and usually don't stop to see what the microtransactions are actually for before complaining about them? As well as the fact that they have a ridiculous tendency to make blanket statements? Yes it illustrates that point quite well.

This COD has more content at release than any of the others in the past five years if not ever. Multiple campaigns, zombies, and a lot of MP modes and maps. Come on now.

i would love to unlock things by playing with the specialist, not random things for others specialist that i will never use, meanwhile i dont win anything from my Battery... This is horrible i am stuck at the same lines every single game "Mess with the best die like the rest".

As long as it stays cosmetic it doesn't really matter but if they're gonna add MTX at least make the damn map packs free.

It should be absolutely illigal to patch in microtransaction at a later point. A publisher should not be allowed to alter the product after I have purchased it and if it does I should have the right to get my money back!

You can also get these items from the normal in game supply drops you earn crypto currency for. All they did was add more content. I'm not even close to unlocking all the stuff that shipped with the game, this just adds more stuff to that pool and gives Tmart1n something to waste 1k on.
