Okay, screw the new car thing. I'm tired of bothering, already. I decided I'd rather spend less and get a late 90s vehicle to work with for the next 5-6 years. I went out today and looked around and I foujnd a 1999 Nissan Altima GXE with 62,000 miles and an asking price of $6950. What do you experts think? Good price, bad price? Good car, bad car? Let me hear it.

Oh, I should also mention that it is black, with a nice quality tint already on the windows, and the factory CD player installed. Not sure on other installed options. I just took down the basic info and came home to research.

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
That's not bad. Just make sure to run the VIN and make sure it was never in an accident. Talk 'em down to the low 6's.

Definitely good advice. I was thinking I should be able to talk them down to $6295 or so. It seemed reasonable to me at least. I'll also definitely run a Carfax on the sucker. Not going to touch a used car without it.

So, do you have any opinions on the car itself?

nothing that i know of. ask at freshalloy.com

also try to talk down to high 5's, and get a mechanic to give it a once over. this is assuming the thing is pristine as far as you can tell.

Doubt I'll be able to get him down to the high 5000s. I went back to the place and talked to him. I'd judge that I could get him down to $6595 by negotiating, and could get the car to $5995 with my trade-in.

The outside of the car is in quite good condition. There is one small dent on the rear, and one place on the trunk where the paint seems to be rubbed down, which I found odd because otherwise the finish on it was still really nice. The interior, on the other hand, is immaculate.

I have a '98 Altima that was purchased then and have only had like 1 or 2 problems while putting about 60,000 miles on it... runs like a dream so I would certainly recommend the car itself (not sure if that costs is a "fair" one or not).
