New Condemned video

framerate is still terrible :/

if i was playing this on my PC today i would be slightly disappointed... the character models really need a boost in polys/textures

otherwise looks like it could be fun
 
It looked great at E3, and the Monolith folk told me that it was running using the FEAR engine which makes sense. Though this game seems to be less focused on intense action and more on exploration, at least thats what I get from the video.
 
If FEAR is any indication (for me anyway as the demo ran smoothly on my system), then I have faith in Monolith to get the framerate up to acceptable levels.
 
So I'm watching this video and I'm thinking to myself, "Self? Why don't they just destroy the building and clean up the bodies later?" Then I thought, "nah, too violent." So then I thought, "Then at least send in SWAT. This is just all too stupid."

To be fair, I never understood the appeal of horror movies, either.
 
looks pretty cool. i'll hold off untill i hear hands on or reviews to really get interested. to many other games at and near launh that interest me more (at least so far)

Heh, I finally got the HD video and I don't see that much framerate issues actually. Though there does appear to be some stutter during the fighting. Still, the game is clearly meant to go at a much slower pace than FEAR. At least, during E3, movement was very much slower than the typical FPS game, I'd like it if Monolith would make your character move somewhat faster, but thats just my opinion.
 
Very nice. Some of that actually looks next gen 8) The texture work is particularly nice. I think some of the animations are a bit off still, but the game is coming along very nicely. One of my most anticipated titles at launch.
 
I really want to know more about the game though. I'm liking the idea of being a CSI kind of agent looking for forensics and stuff.
 
I love the concept.

It remains to be seen if the execution will be solid. I'm really digging the lighting engine but the animations do hurt the game's appeal.
 
It's running on the FEAR engine? That's great, the environments are nice and detailed. I think the animations can improve before it releases. The sound is the true winner in this game though.
 
The game looks a lot more polished than the early videos, and those parts where he takes screenshots of the victims is looking great. The gameplay looked very cool with the non-ammo weapons.
 
Alright, that video made the game look significantly more interesting than it did at E3. But the fight sequences still make me think "Oh look, a Hobo Fighting game."

Seems like Kingpin meets Silent Hill. Is it the same Monolith team that's doing F.E.A.R. or the other one?
 
Judging next-gen games is not a matter of looking at screens or even videos anymore.

It's a tech quiz followed by judgement.

As in, what is the resolution? Framerate? If it's at 480 and 30 fps it looks horrible, if it's at 1080 at 60 fps, this is the prettiest game I've laid my eyes on.

and yes, the 360 can do 1080 resolutions.
 
Well, according to an interview with ATI, Xenos/C1 *can* render up to 1080p internally but the max video output of the launch X360, it seems, is 1080i, yes....

No. Monolith had 3 teams, FEAR, Condemned, and The Matrix Online. The Matrix Online team has moved over to SOE Seattle.
 
Well, the E3 demo was pretty much there to show off the fighting aspects of the game, albeit they kind of overdid it in that regard, but I'm sure there was reasons for doing that, probably the game was in an early state or something along those lines.

I think that if they really take up the interactivity level and incorporate some "mystery" elements into the game then it could really be cool.
 
This game reeks of bad art direction and bland characters.

Plus, I am reminded of Half-Life 2 from what I've seen in total soo far. The environments look like they use the same engine, even though they really aren't using that engine.

At least in my opinion, I'm not impressed. It takes more than a high rez image to get me giddy, but then again I work in the Home Theater department at a retail store, so I guess I'm too used to high def.
