Virtua Quest is a massive blown opportunity for Sega. After years of rumors and hyperbole, it turns out they outsourced development from AM2 to TOSE.

What was Yu Suzuki thinking? Clearly not much.

Great review for Snake Eater. The Game Informer crew really loved the game inspite of a few issues, the second opinion score was a 9.75.

Shouldn't that be a "Dual Game of the Month"? I mean, Metroid Echoes got the same.

GI has more than one reviewer...I'm sure they had to choose one over the other and they chose wisely

The project probably would've been better suited to GBA given the concept, target demographics and Tose's track record. They've made some excellent handheld games for Square Enix & Nintendo, but I don't think I've ever played a good console game from Tose.

Virtua Shit!

Not surprised, though. I'm not sure what Sega was thinking with that one.

Let's see - good franchises toasted so far by Sega in the last few years:

Virtua Fighter
Shinobi
Sakura Taisen
Altered Beast
Vectorman (canceled, thank god)

What's next? A super-deformed cell shaded remake of Panzer Dragoon Saga?

How was Virtua Fighter toasted when VF4, EVO, and Final Tuned were said to be great games? Also, how did they mess up Sakura Taisen?

Virtua Quest.

From what I understand the ST1 remake on PS2 was pretty crap. Also all the spinoffs (Kouma, Episode 0, Monogatari, etc) take a toll on the IP somewhat.

For other franchises, I'd throw in Sonic (Adv1/2 were flawed but still pretty good, Heroes sucked), ToeJam & Earl, Crazy Taxi and maybe Shining (SF Neo is going to get a huge backlash for going ARPG/RTS instead of SRPG).

The PS2 ST1 remake wasn't as much of a poor game as it was unecessary; ST1 was already remade/ported to the PC and DC by that point. Also, the ST line has always had spinoffs (Columns, Graph, Teigeki Steam or whateverthefuck that one disc I have is called) so I don't think that was the issue either.

Rather, I think it's as simple as Sakura Taisen 4. Unlike most fans I'm ok with ST4 (as opposed to vehemently hating it), but that's really only because of the ending. Unfortunately, ST4 isn't much more than the ending.

ps: Ep 0 wasn't that bad.

I remember when Sim Golf came out, it had a .5 higher than other game, but the other game was GOTM, utter bullshit. They did that to another PC game as well, I'm thinking Command and Conquer Renegades

Can someone post a list of all the TOSE developed titles. I've heard of this development studio before, but I've always found it very hard to determine what they've created.

What Square Enix and Nintendo stuff have they done?

Well their good games (for Square Enix & Nintendo) were the Starfi GBA games and the GBC/GBA Dragon Quest games (DQ, DQ Monsters & Slime Morimori). Everything else they've made that I'm aware of (Sega GT, Shrek GBA, Nightmare before Christmas, etc) is pretty crappy.

GI gave MGS2 two 10's if I remember correctly. One of the only ones to love the secret. Still, awesome score for this game. And yes, it does rock and all you guys who abandoned the series with 2 can go screw yourself

How can a game be an Action Role Playing Game and a Real Time Strategy game at the same time? It does not sound like a good combination to me. Can anyone think of any games that did both Action Role Playing Game and a Real Time Strategy and did it successfully? Jarrod where did you learn that the new SF game was going to be a RPG/RTS instead of SRPG?

Disapointed

I loved Shining force 1 and 2, and i really wanted this one to be a strat rpg as well. The strategy, if you can even call it that, that this game seems to have seems really shallow.

Thanks Gonaria
I am also a little disappointed. If this was not a Shining force game or if this was Shining force spin off like Shining in the Darkness, I would not care but this is a Shining force. I will still buy the game when it come out but I am a little disappointed at this point. Hopefully it will turn out OK.
