Looks like an 'industry insider' has been playing HL2 on their crappy television and had an 'idea'.

The only people who would have access to such screen shots would be Valve, and these pictures have not come from Valve...

That looks pretty damn good. Too bad I haven't even bothered with it on the PC yet, though....

How do we know that this isn't the PC version being output to a TV? If these are XBOX shots, even despite the shot quality and fact that it's being snapped off of a TV that can hide a lot, color me impressed.

I'd hesitate to believe these are real you guys...

Why are there black bars top and bottom ? Xbox should be overscanning to prevent that...

C'mon, You know the Xbox can do this.

Here thus, only for you, the first images in-game Half-Life 2 on Xbox. These photographs snuff starting from a playable version of the software are, certainly, of average quality, but they enable you all the same to assess the quality of textures, the level of detail of the decorations, returned water or the modeling of the characters. These photographs also make it possible to support the denial of certain rumours which implied that Half-Life 2 would rather be born on Xbox 360, because the software turns indeed on Xbox. The FPS of Valve Software would be planned for the summer 2005, in the United States.

I'm not debating whether or not it could be done looking like that on the XBOX...but rather, whether or not these are actually shots from the XBOX version. I do think that the XBOX could do a very faithful-looking version of the game...but a shot or two with something that looks console-specific (e.g. pause menu) would go a long way toward making this seem like a legitimate console version.

Take it from me. THERE IS NO WAY THE XBOX CAN DO GRAPHICS LIKE THAT. In fact, I don't think the Xbox can even do graphics, period.

Those better not be from the Xbox version, after i spent all that money on a new PC to play HL2.

I'm def leaning more toward this being a PC->tv-out at 640x480 or so. who the hell would have a playable build of the damn gamn yet and not be able to take a "real" screenshot?

lets not forget that pictures taken of a game running off a moniter tend to mask a lot of the flaws in a game's graphics and make them look better than they actually are in some respects.

well i dont know if they are or not, but i will say that it isnt unheard of to see screens taken in this manner. if you dont have your own copy and your at a demonstration somewhere..

lol for jeuxfrance it is the first screen about half life 2 ^^" they forgot scans from magazine there is 2 weeks ... and jeuxfrance add logo on all pics (scans, screens and more) so we can know if it exclusive photo.

What did you call me ?

Hmm, PC to TV most likely. In some of the brighter images, you can clearly see screen geometry issues that are most often present when sending a PC signal to a normal television (pincushion/hook/vertical stretch).

I call PC version. If Valve authorized these, they would've given actual screens. As it stands now, it just looks like whoever posted these focused too much on proving that it's playing on a TV. The insecurity makes me believe it's fake.

Whats the one thing that will take a massive hit once this game is on the Xbox? I ask because I haven't played it,just wondering what would be the one thing that the Xbox would struggle with after its been downgraded. I'm guessing the frame rate would run around 30 frames. Those are gritty looking visuals, its not exactly hard to push something like that on consoles anyway, just look at Flop...err KillZone.:)

The graphics look almost photo realistic!

I hate the term photo realistic. Yeah, it looks good but its not photo realistic.

Might get games worthy of that term come PS4 and Xbox 720, 360 squared or what ever its going to be called.

And that is a big maybe.

Color me impressed!

I was interested in Half-Life 2, but I passed on the PC version because I refuse to support Steam. So for me, the fact that the game's coming out for Xbox is fantastic news. If the Xbox version ends up looking even half as good as those screenshots and still moves at a decent framerate, I'll be more than satisfied.

There's no way that's running on 64 Megs, or you would be staring at a loading screen every 10 seconds.

Fable, Morrowind, and KOTOR 2 were our training exercises. Now the final patience test is at hand. Bring it on Valve.

It certainly looks like the PC version to me. Whoever took the shots however should have taken it on a monitor other than a fuckin' AKAI television...
