New Half-Life 2 Xbox screens!

This is definitely the PC version.

Compare these:

The textures alone give it away (left one is from OXM).

nice comparsion there dude. now if i take an image of the pc version but if i use my camera phone, will have i a case that the xbox textures look better than the pc?

we ALL now the pc version will look better than xbox port, i think thats a given.

I'm still interested in the game...

While those shots are clearly PC shots, I still believe the XBOX version will look very nice when released. I found Doom 3 to be more enjoyable on the XBOX, despite visual downgrades, and the same could occur here. If they can someone fix the loading problems, this could actually become a better experience than the PC version.

What the hell are you talking about?

The image on the left is the Xbox version as shown in OXM. The image on the right is from the pictures that are being shown as Xbox shots but are clearly from the PC version when compared. It's not difficult to see the reduction in detail in the left pic, despite the quality of the images.

From what I see those screeen shots look impressive as hell considering the XBox hardware specs. Is this thread giong to turn out like those early Doom3 threads for XBox. I remember a lot of people eating crow over that debacle. ;)

Using the warez copy of the PC version as well it seems. It has the telltale bug of the AUX POWER bar always being red.

:lol I have used the warez version yes, but I've bought the game as well like a good citizen. I did some tests to compare loading times, turned out the warez version loaded twice as fast on average and ran much better (no stuttering etc) :/

The screens in the original post are real, AFAIK. The press has apparently seen and played the Xbox version over the last couple of weeks so more and more stuff should be popping up shortly. Jeux France probably just wanted to be the first with anything up so they posted pics taken with a camera when they were playing the game.

Where did you dig this info up? I suppose it seems possible. That "E2" floating around the top left of the screen is a bit strange, for example.

The E2 looks like it's from the TV, not from the game.

Does anyone really think that Valve would demo HL2 on Xbox on a shitty 13" TV?

Yes I am, it's probably because the Steam/Retail version has most of its textures, sounds etc packed into .gcf archives and they need to be unpacked first before use, whereas the warez version just has all files directly on your HD.

There's no reason that I couldn't use GCFscape to decompress all of the resources from the Steam version myself, right?

I did that quite some time ago, though I didn't exactly time the loading before deleting the files.
