New Halo 5 ARG?

Put it together, the big pieces fit in nicely enough.

Small pieces.. what's the pattern?

Yeah it seems really pointless, I haven't been able to figure out how it helps us. The letters on the tiles weren't in the right order to begin with since they were numbered. I'm at a loss.

An ARG is a bad ARG if you're waiting for 10 days for it to really start / be tweeted.

The Hype curve was steep to start with and then it diminished.

Yeah, I can't tell if it's just really poorly designed or poorly communicated.

They ended up giving the information away on Twitter... which seems silly.

The switch from their own websites to Social media seemed kinda lame to me as well.

If you've got all these registered domains and what not.. use them!

I definitely think the team thing killed this. ARGs are fun when the whole internet is banging on it at the same time posting ideas. This is boring.

also the puzzles so far have just been confusing. I don't know if they're bad or people just aren't trying but either way when you have to post the solution you know it's gone wrong.

Yeah.. whats worse are the douche-nozzles who purposefully egg people on "Oh we know more than you.. neener neener". Obviously, it's a contest (and the internet), but I just hate seeing that kind of nonsense.

What's also weird is since the circle part, there's been no team work required again (yet).

Im going with poorly designed since I spent 6 hours trying to get past the dots with multiple groups and never did.

A few issues: Requiring a smartphone (hard to communicate on such a small screen), boring puzzles, turned an Alternate Reality GAME into a Competition.

It's telling when the puzzle for the poster/box art was more fun/interesting

The fact that absolutely nothing that's come out of this has been even remotely interesting isn't helping.

"Hey guys, ho find a bunch of puzzle pieces to put together this colorful picture of generic circuits! Halo 5!"

"But... Why?"

"..."

"..."

"Look blue lights go find some more pieces!!!!!"

I've been doing that pretty frequently. I'm sorry to everyone in IRC

I don't know about the team thing killing it.

The main problem is that they have dragged the start of the ARG out for soooo long with the circuits.

The start of the ARG should be like the start of an olympic sprint with no-one in any doubt as to when it starts. At the moment, the start of the ARG feels like the start of a meeting of the local stationery appreciation society and some attendees are in the wrong room.

Team based ARG ... Awesome in theory, horrible in practice.

Honestly i was pumped for the team based part, but i have been in 3 teams now and we still havent been able to do the first team puzzle.

I'm calling it quits.. i think.

Thankfully (I guess) doing that team puzzle hasn't seemed to actually DO anything unique. It gives you a code (same as everyone else) to get the #Circuits started... but that's it.

Are there any other prizes for this ARG or just the be in the game prize? I was hoping for weird other prizes like I got a Sunset Overdrive skateboard deck last time.

I thought I read somewhere that there were 3 winning teams but the top team got their face in Halo 5.. could be wrong.

Also, rings were solved and posted.

Yeah, the terms aren't very clear. Some parts mention "top 3 winning teams", others mention "3 tiers of prize(s)"... but others mention just a "winning team (4 entrants)". And no other tiers of prizes are described aside from appearing in H5.

Yeah the whole thing is as vague as it can be.

Well I guess I won.

This whole thing just feels poorly done. There were only two or three times where it actually required a team. Otherwise a lot of this stuff could have been done by a single person. Not to mention they completely botched the beginning with the circuit pieces, which really drew me out of the experience.

Well technically you didn't win yet. You just finished, and for that congrats for sticking with it. We'll see who they chose as the team that wins.
