It's a prequel to them but it would certainly help to understand everything. No one has seen it so no one really knows for sure but I'd assume they would at least lead it into the first two movie's factions, technology, and leaders.

If you haven't seen the first, YOU SHOULD. One of the craziest scenes in a movie you'll ever see. I also very much liked the second one as well. Both definitely worth watching.

They supposedly have another sequel with Eggsy planned (unless this one bombs) too. The trailer looked fun enough, but I really like Firth and Egerton as the face of the movies. I'm still in though, I absolutely loved the first Kinsgman movie and actually really enjoyed the sequel, albeit for different reasons. The action style is top notch in my opinion. Highly stylized and flashy, we don't get stuff like this often anymore. It's either capeshit with magic laser beams and super strength or shaky-cam dust cloud crap that you can't really make heads or tails of.
