Is this an all new game engine or an advanced version of what we’ve seen for Madden in the current-gen?

Jeremy Strauser: This is an all-new game engine; new rendering engine, new animation system, new player models, new stadium models, etc. We were able to share some key data like plays and player ratings with current gen, but just about everything else is brand new.

What about the on-field physics? Have you been able to implement advanced collision detection and other goodies to recreate a more reaistic game?

Jeremy Strauser: Ultimately we ended up re-writing our animation engine and physics engine from scratch. This is a great first step, it is very good and looks great – but we can take this even further in the future with real time physics engines. Real time physics is a huge undertaking on the grand scale needed for a football game, so we didn’t have time to get this type of system in this year’s game. While we are very happy with the animation and physics systems we have, we’re looking forward to even bigger and better things here in this generation of game engine.

I'm picking this up, but real next-gen football starts when the real time physics are implemented. I can't fucking wait.

What kinds of changes (if any) have been made to QB Vision Control for the next gen?

Jeremy Strauser: Vision is off by default, but you can quickly turn it on by pressing the R-stick or by pulling the Left Trigger + receiver button to activate it. We know this feature, while enjoyed by many, was not universal in how it was received, so this implementation is based on player feedback and some new design ideas. If you use Vision you gain an advatage. The computer still uses vision by default.

Please keep it in for the future, Tiburon :(

That's cool that you at least get an advantage for using it though.

This is the best news I've read on the Madden front in a while. I think the 360 version looks great, but the animations have been disappointing at best. If they could come close to a Natural Motion type physics engine for an upcoming Madden, I'd be set for a while.

Seriously.

All they have done for the 360 version beats the current XBOX version in so many ways that it makes it a no-brainer for me to buy this at launch.

Argh. What movie is linked on the first page?

ANOTHER BUCS VIDEO!

I've said for the whole time Madden 06 360 isn't the true next gen madden but a transitional one. That's fine with me though as it looks like a nice step up from the current gen version. Next years version will be amazing. Advanced physics + 60FPS = me drool

Oh, I don't dispute that, I'm getting it at launch as well, I just think that with the increase in graphical detail, it takes you out of the experience a little to see some of these animations.

I think the next step they can take (aside from the AI obviously) is to move away from the motion capturing.
