So....since I'm too lazy to pull up the weekly listening thread, I decided to start a new one of a lot of the NEW stuff that I've been listening to.
Stars - Set Yourself on Fire - of course, the beloved Montreal group makes a stunning follow-up to their previous masterpiece, "Heart." So far, I'm not digging it as much as "Heart," which was very poppy and upbeat. Don't get me wrong, it's still "poppy," but in a "darker" sense. The album opener is AMAZING: "your ex-lover is dead."
Six By Seven - 04 - most of you probably have never heard of this BritPop group. They are in the vein of MBV and space-rock. Dave Friedmann produced their new album, so it's definitely more spacier than their previous albums. So far, so good.
TV on the Radio - New Health Rock EP - it's TVOTR...you either love 'em or hate 'em. I just love the guy's voice; he can do no wrong in my book.
Trail of Dead - Worlds Apart - this is probably the album that will divide hardcore Dead fans the most. It is definitely much more accessible than their previous work, songs in the vein of "Relative Ways." Probably not as strong as "Source Tags," but a rockin' effort nonetheless.
Ok...please don't hit the indie kid.
