Today has been emotional as a Nintendo fan.
First I see a new direct (Yay!)
Then I see it is 3DS Only (Boo!)
I see they plan to talk about the new "Galaxy" 3DS (More Boo!)
I then read the RUMOR about it possibly being preloaded with SMG1/2 (YAY!!!!!)
So far have not seen any thing to corroborate the SMG rumor (Boo!!!)
Oh well I guess tomorrow will put the final layer of icing on the cake.

3D Land began life as a SMG port and was scrapped as the screen was too small for the kind of the game and the team rejected the idea of it any further. Why they'd change their mind would be beyond me. 3DS could probably run it, but it's not happening lol.

That'd be a great idea! Nintendo did upload the trailer to their channel and Mastiff did meet with NoA not long ago. It could happen and give the game a HUGE boost!

I think the goal of this direct is to advertise upcoming 3DS releases for holiday sales before NX will overshadow everything. So I think it would be contraproductive to date the NX reveal at the end of the direct.

Never played LBX. There's 1 copy sitting at my local Walmart (has been for quite some time), still at $45 CDN....good game?
This is also why I think they may be hesitant to talk about the NX before Christmas shopping is over.
Not revealing a console until two months before it comes out is suicide.

I've only played it for a half hour or so. Both LBX and LBX W originated as PSP games (but on 3DS they got more content), and from what I've played it's alright. But it's hard for me to say anything positive or negative after so little time.

It's March and the chill of winter is still settling in. Temperatures have risen around the country but it is still quite chilly out. Children laughter is heard on a street. Camera pans to the backyard of a large house in a nice Seattle suburb.
Reggie Fils-Amie emerges from his sliding glass door out onto his deck. He's got a warm cup of coffee that takes the chill off his body and warms him all over. He sits down in front of a camera which begins broadcasting around the world.
Today, I'm pleased to introduce the NX, which is in stores now.
As soon as the words "now" are uttered, the sound of commotion rises outside many houses on the road. Half dressed people quickly sprint out of their houses and shuffle into their cars, which peel out of their driveways at high speeds. Back in front of the camera, a smile runs across Reggie's face.

God the 3DS seems like it coasting on fumes at this point. Really not I to a single one of those franchises.
I wouldn't say it's fumes, it's a pretty good lineup actually. The real problem is it's too RPG heavy. But that's pretty much been the situation for the majority of the system's life. There have already been a lot of other big releases this year on the system too (again though, many of them RPGs).

Callie and Marie amiibos are supposed to bring in Callie and Marie themed squirrel villagers (I don't know why they didn't choose the squids though?). All of the cards are supposed to work and bring in that villager to your town but I don't believe we know much about how it will work (which is likely something that will be covered in the direct)

I'm not expecting any NX news personally, but I'm just gonna say that if nothing gets announced (like, a reveal date) people are going to be within their right to be "salty". Not because they should have expected it at this particular event but because Nintendo's handling of this shit has been ridiculous, they announced that the NX is a thing that exists in March 2015, it's about to be September 2016 and we still don't know wth the thing even is. Yeah it makes business sense on their part, it's still silly that we've had to wait so damn long. Especially because outside of the NX we've seen a decrease in frequency of Directs in general. IMO they should have just not announced its existence that early, but I guess announcing their mobile game plans to quell their investors' fears forced their hands to prove to their core audience that they're still making games for non-mobile platforms in the future.
Link about the Galaxy 3DS being talked about more? I haven't seen that.
BTW, the Galaxy 3DS I thought already has a retailer listing, which didn't include anything about Galaxy games? Maybe I misheard though?

Not sure where this Galaxy for 3DS is coming from. The special Galaxy 3DS already released....and if they wanted Super Mario Galaxy for 3DS, then they would've tied it in with the Galaxy 3DS to help them sell.

Granted I think any such rumor is pretty unlikely, but, did it definitely already release? Any link to a page where it's for sale or someone bought it?
It would be a pretty good troll if Nintendo did a fakeout like that.
It's gotta be Q1 at the earliest unless marketing plans have changed in that regard since per the Trev leak we know about all of this year's games; the last to be revealed from the codenames was MP.
