New Oblivion footage!

At the very end of the town presentation he mentions there are 1500 NPCs :)

1000 always seemed a little low for such a big world.

Have you played Morrowind? You could do the same for the main quest there. Yet, as it also says in the interview, you can play for hundreds of hours doing other quest. So I dont see the problem. If you dont want it to finish so fast do some other side quest.

...and? I wracked up like 70 hours on Morrowind before I even touched the main quest. Actually when I first got Morrowind I never did end up doing it - it was only when I re-bought the GOTY edition this year that I finally played through it. Many other people were the same.

The graphics are amazing. And the developer said that the this build's several weeks old, so they're doing a lot of optimization concerning slowdowns, pop-ins and whatnot.

He also said that although the main quest can go from 20-25 hours to finish, if you plan on doing ALL the stuff it can go as many as 1200 (YES TWELVE HUNDRED) hours with it, which is mind-boggling. :)

Yep, well though i did complete the main quest, it took me ages since I would always find tons of side quests that interested me.
I can't wait for this game, still one of my most anticipated games. I'm fine with them needing the extra time to polish up the game, though i'm not happy that my two most anticipated games have been delayed and I am not able to play either until next year. When Zelda was delayed, I found solace in the fact that I would have Oblivion to tide me over the christmas period and all of next year until it was released, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.

20-25 hour main quest? That's exactly what I was looking to hear. I recently was about to get morrowind but skipped it because every body is saying oblivion is fixing whatever flaws morrowind has so I thought I might as well skip to that. Except hearing about 100+ hours of game time being average for morrowind turned me off this series. I was hoping most of those hours are just optional side quests and yep they are. I'll probably get this on PC or 360 later in its life unless it's ported to PS3

fixed. :D

With great new weapons and spells to find!

Sure the graphics look pretty nice (minus all the poppin in and out of the forest), but my God, the animation needs to be next-gen too. Talk about holding the game back. The artist must wince every time a character moves.

Yeah the animation is rather dull. It really doesnt look any better than the animation in Fable. The facial expressions still look current gen too.

Still, these a minor gripes for such a great looking game.

Have the devs talked about the size of Oblivion compared to Morrowind? I missed it if they did.

They said itr was smaller, but the interaction is better between the npc's and the gameworld.

EDIT: make that the interaction between npcs and the game world is amazing. @_@

"They said itr was smaller, but the interaction is better between the npc's and the gameworld."

Actually, Stevemeister says the world's larger. In another thread he says: The land mass is roughly 16 square miles and Vvardenfell's roughly 10.

Wow, i distinctly remember an interview saying otherwise about a year ago, things must have changed. Very nice.

The game looks very good. I like how they are taking some elements from fable... like tracking nearly every stat imagineable.

The game looks very impressive so far. The characters look decent but the surroundings are very good. Some of the best I've seen on the 360. :)
