??

I could live with that. Doesn't look anything like the crap from the MTV special - I know, I tivo'd it. Then laughed again and again and again. Holding on to it until I need the space.

There isn't enough to laugh about in life these days.

She's got a huge melon (meaning head). Hands/fingers are suffering from Mcfarlane toy rigor mortis. Looks nice otherwise.

maybe the multiplayer portion is very early, and uses a different rendering system then single play (like splinter cell and halo 2). maybe the single player will blow us away, or at the very least look pretty good (as these shots indicate). maybe.

Well, at least it shows they're able to use HDR. Though that might explain the low framerates in the video clips. There was some discussion at Beyond3D that the 10 MB eDRAM frame buffer was not enough to copy into a 720p image with 2x AA and HDR enabled at the same time. Just the 720p and 2x AA (which is mandatory for every X360 game) would put it slightly over 10 MB.

Rare: Oops! We forgot to enable HDR on those other screenshots. Please ignore! :eyesspinningwildlyoutofsocket

In the 1Up article, it says the game was running off of an Alpha Xbox 360 dev kit that only had 2 of the 3 CPU's and didn't have the custom GPU.

"Whatever, bitch..."

:lol. seriously. Laura owns Joanna at the moment. They should do a cross over mud-wrestling title.

Rare/MS damage control in progress. Where did you get that image from Prine? Its on Imagebucket. It had to come from somewhere.

bingo.

Here it comes. The "it's not the SP mode" argument that plagued Halo 2, until we actually played it and realized it was the same.

Just watched the full MTV special, PD0 looked worse. :P

It looks like a massive misinformation campaign. Nobody has seen the real PD0, and it will blow everything away. Well, everything but VR Helmets. You can't win against fucking VR Helmets.

even in that mtv show, there was a clip of the new joanna model in blue. which is closer in style to the concept art. and certainly an improvement on green joanna with the fucked up eyes.

true

What if.... what if Microsoft was trying to lure Sony into thinking 360 wasn't much of a threat so they wouldn't show much at their press conference.

Then POW!! RIGHT IN THE KISSER its the "HDR" versions of all the 360 games at their own conference.

No one has asked where this screen came from and if they there are more???

SHAME.

So where is the video this came from?

please tell me why they would make a ridiculously detailed character model for the single-player version of a first-person shooter where you never, ever see the protagonist.

or just stfu and accept that rare sucks.

Um. I think we've seen the game. You cannot say that the multi-player screens in the MTV special are any different from the ones 1up released that got the forum up in arms. Real PD0? What's this? ;)

Although I get a major laugh over the crap showed on MTV, the first shot is a LOT more in line with how I expected it to look. Third person instead of FPS with that kind of art and style would be a winner.

However, I will not get my hopes up...

What do you think Rare has been working on all these years? A shitty PD0 demo to trick the public with is a drop in the bucket. By your logic, you'd think Rare wasn't worth 400 million dollars!

In-engine cutscenes?

And doesn't the game cut to third-person when you roll?

uh, cutscenes? and "ridiculously detailed" is a stretch -- that model looks considerably worse than the cutscene models in re4 or mgs3.

rare certainly sucks, though.

Single player Halo 2 does indeed look better than multiplayer. Night and day.

i really mean that rare sucks. their games have been shit for years, but i thought pd0 would redeem them. SO MUCH FOR THAT IDEA!

The green suited on shown yesturday is probably some other agent you can play as in multiplayer...Joanna will be the one in the blue.

Thats not an ingame screenshot though (this new one), so i wont hold my breath hoping the game looks as good as that.

I still don't understand why they seem to be struggling with the graphics. Their games are almost never fun, but they are certainly capable of creating visually amazing games. Star Fox Adventures is still one of the best looking games of this generation.

Cutscenes aren't gameplay, though, so there's no reason to suspect that that model is in any way indicative of what you'll see when the game is actually in progress.

Also it looks like a goddamned render. Maybe it's the options menu or something. It's certainly not gameplay, unless there's a scene entitled "Joanna stands around and smirks like an idiot."

It's not even just the graphics. The art is seriously not up to par for Rare imo.
