New Punch-out game for Revolution/DS

Wouldn't their patent/trademark/whatever have been continued seeing as how Punchout was re-released within Animal Crossing and Super Punchout in Fight Night? I think this does point to a new game.

Copyright extends pretty long, and I guess Animal Crossing and Fight Night could technically renew the copyright period. Trademarks, however, expire more quickly.

What this means in essence is that while people can not in a long while distribute copies of Punch-Out the game legally, if the trademark expired somebody could do a new game called Punch-Out.

I've been wondering how Nintendo has been able to trademark something so generic and obvious. My bet is that the two ! marks are the explanation - they could not have trademarked "Punch-Out", but "Punch-Out!!" was available for registration.

Kid Icarus was a cool (and tough!) game, but it might be hard to sell it these days. Unless of course they introduce Kid Icarus 'Shadow', who uses a shotgun instead of the bow & arrow, and of course there'll be carjackings.

...just kidding, I'd love to see a new Kid Icarus!

Whatever platform it wont be using a standard controller interface, which is cool.

DS - Touch screen
GC - Bongo Drums
N5R - "insert mystery interface"

Hopefully revolution. Could be like that arcade game where you punch the air.

My first thought was "Punch Out for Revolution with those neat dual-handed tilt controllers I and some others thought up." But the DK Bongos also make a good idea...hmmm...

Punchout for the DS could have some potential, but I don't see how far innovatiion of the franchise could go, as it basically consits of moving only left and right, and throwing two kinds of punches, I'd love for my pessimism to be proven wrong though.
