First WiFi multiplayer screens!!!

They really do seem like they're putting a lot of work into this. I'm really excited to see how it all turns out.

Um, they can have all the Rage Racer tracks they want. It's still not the same. The game is slower, and dumbed down. I don't get Namco.

But...uh....

...nevermind.

I want this....like BADLY

The RR game's on DS and PSP are so diffrent in quality..one has to think sony slipped namco a nice bill under the table...that or is the psp technology that much better then DS?

Now, THIS is my PSP must-have game. The new visual upgrade to Rage Racer track is fucking amazing. I can't wait for this. Please, Sony, don't make the US wait too long for the launch. I must have this.

Serious question: what is that RR fans like about the series?
The aesthetic. The music from Rage, R4 and RR64 were also amazing, and considered some of the best soundtracks out there (if you're not some RPG nerd). And the sense of speed is fantastic. Also, I'd say the track design from Rage Racer is still today unmatched.

The handling system that makes it so special...The incredible drifts you can perform with little effort and that are so nice to see. The unique style the game has with awesome track designs and nice cars that look so great. The fantastic techno soundtracks that plague the games.

I think SSX already hit the nail...

Awesome handeling, great sense of speed, amazing course designs, and the absolute best music in any racing game.
What is it that you like about the handling? Personally I find it much too loose and combined with the shit AI and collision detection/physics it makes for a pretty crappy racing game. Daytona forever!

Was there an OST for the RR64 soundtrack? You hardly ever hear mention of the game in RR-related threads.

Loose? You're kidding...

I'm a huge fan of Daytona as well and I'd place Ridge Racer V right up there with it.

The drifting mechanics have always felt really smooth and that's the most important part of the control aspect since it's what you're doing most. They did a nice balance between how it feels to drift in an arcade racer and a sim racer.

I've never been a fan of Daytona. SR has always been the Sega racer that stood out for me.

Don't even start with that shit. Daytona and RR series are BOTH awesome. And as far as your argument is concerned, both games feature exaggerated physics and shit AI. I personally LOVE both series.

I haven't played V. Is it much different from previous versions?

The drifting in Ridge Racers looks terrible. Just terrible. This is not a Ridge Racer. This looks like they used the R:Racing Evolution engine. If you're a true Ridge Racer fan, then you'd see it as clear as day.

no, ridge racer v is almost exactly like previous versions. but it's my favorite console-exclusive game in the series, just cos it does such fantastic things with the classic ridge racer city tracks. rage and r4 don't feel as connected to ridge racer's roots.

it occurs to me that the psp could handle model 3 ports. i think this is our cue to vainly hope for proper versions of scud race and daytona 2.
