The official site's been updated, hadn't seen some of them before (lots of replay shots):

Only 6 courses listed though, maybe we won't see Rage Racer tracks after all? :(

Hopefully there's more to unlock though, I NEED my updated Rage Racer tracks God damn it!

Is there! I had the Japanese one, so don't know the names! :)

The shot above with position 9 looks a bit like the first track, but it's hard to tell really. Nothing screams Rage Racer to me yet, but hopefully the 18 more tracks thing is true.

I would be a bit surprised for a launch game to be that complete though, so I'm preparing myself for just 6!

Babelfishing the site does make it sound like there's 24:

"Furthermore, because of PSP which is proud of high visual efficiency, it recreated also the graphics of course entirely. When it adjusts also new course, the several series most numerous 24 courses. It chooses the machine which the machine has popularity from the past ' ridge racer ' series, records with all new designs"

It's 2 weeks away Namco, stop teasing and name more than 6!

They did actually name another 4, they just haven't show them yet.

Here's my post from another thread:

In addition to the six tracks shown so far, this pic reveals the names of 4 more tracks:

Midtown Expressway
Sunset Drive
Union Hill District
Ridge City Highway

Plus the 6 tracks shown so far:

Greenpeak Highlands
Crimsonrock Pass
Seaside Route 765
Silvercreek Dam
Crystal Coast Highway
Downtown Rave City

Finally found the English names of the Rage tracks:

Mystical Coast
Over Pass City
Lakeside Gate
The Extreme Oval

Namco, if you are listening! ;)

i bet the "24 courses" takes into account reverse tracks, mirror tracks, and reverse mirror tracks. that'd account for all 24. :/

edit: just read miburou's post. i guess there are at least 10 legitimate tracks! that's pretty awesome.

I'm loving my DS, but I know where I will be playing portable racing games!!! OK, with the exception of Mario Kart.

If RR looks like this, I twitch in anticipation of GT4. on the PSP

Looks sexy, although I do wonder how long the battery will hold up while playing this game continually non stop.

Why does the DS version look so much better than this?
The horrible graphics and lack of touch screen steering are really going to hurt this game, and the PSP in general. I don't know what SOny is thinking.

God damn that looks seriously fuckin' good. I really like the colors. We'll see how the PSP comes together price and functionality-wise but if they do this kind of quality w/ other games maybe they'll have another purchaser.

Everything about this game looks awesome, from the graphics to the music, tracks, modes, etc.

The only thing that's worrying me is how the controls will fare compared to using a Dual Shock 2. I'm pretty sure it'll play fine (someone mentioned that RR on cellphone controls fine), but this might be the only area where I'll say to myself "I wish this was on PS2".

The PSP has an analogue stick, so it should be fine.

There have been reports that the PS2's analog stick is a bit stiff and slippery, and besides holding a PSP isn't that same as holding a controller.

Man March is so far away. I wonder if this will still look impressive once we start seeing Xenon racers.

Why isn't this clown banned?

Why should I be banned? Is not thinking the PSP isn't the greatest thing ever invented against the TOS?

I'm glad it's coming out in March. Then I'll get to try all the games at E3. Could end up saving me about $300 come PSP launch time.

Because not only do you troll, but you play dumb and act innocent. Your reply that I'm quoting is a prime example.

Meh, people troll the DS threads too. It's pretty even IMO. The system wars have only begun anyway. This is nothing. By this time next year, people will be at each other's throats, and the bannings will increase. PEACE.

EDIT: Gigadent knows this well I might add. ;)

I havent payed for a handheld since the gamegear... I got a gameboy pocket from kool-aid for free.. but this thing is looking more and more impressive.. I have allways liked ridge racer..

one question: is this game going to have wifi online play?

The PSP may have the largest, sharpest and most colorful screen ever to grace a handheld gaming device, but still... A new proper Ridge Racer game looking as marvellous as this deserves to be enjoyed on a big TV. They've done a superb job on the colors, best palettes in a racer I've seen in a long time.

Some more screens that I haven't seen before:

Good question. I know it will have local WiFi support, no idea about the online through wifi.

Let me be the first to say that I'd have no problem with this being release for every platform under the sun, but I'd rather play games like this on a handheld anyway. I think the gaming in short bursts, which is how I play arcade racers, is more suited for handhelds, at least that's what my lifestyle is like. It will probably look the same on PSP as it would on PS2 anyways (as far as image quality goes, even better.).

well we don't have to wait til Xenon comes out until we're unimpressed with DS graphics. The last 6 years of console games already do that just fine

The PSP fanboys get upset over a subtle attempt of trolling, but enjoys the DS RR shitfest :lol
