Looking forward to the first new episode of Scrubs in many weeks...coming on in half an hour.

Some seemed unimpressed by the premiere of The Office last week, but I got some really huge laughs out of it....even for the jokes that I really knew were coming from having seen the British version. Here's hoping that the Office tonight is even better though. I don't recall the description from the original series, so I'm guessing that it is a new script.

Episode descriptions:

"My Boss's Free Haircut"
J.D. and Elliot try to help Turk and Carla through a rocky patch in their marriage; Dr. Cox challenges Dr. Kelso to lead by example and take on a few patients of his own.

The Office
"Diversity Day"
Michael tells everyone it was his idea to hire a special consultant (Larry Wilmore) to teach racial tolerance and diversity, when in fact it was his behavior that necessitated the training.

Saw a preview for the new episode of The Office (It was a pretty long preview admittedly).

I thought it was pretty funny and I laughed much more than I did last week.

This is the first time I've seen the US version of The Office, pretty damn funny if you ask me. :lol

Sorry, it's pretty terrible thus far and about as bad as the episode last week. There is no comparison with the British original.

Yeah, and I also liked the Mr. Brown comments. Maybe I just like racial humor. :p

LOL also goes to: Both Indian jokes in this episode. :lol

Mexican Connotations, that would be an awesome song title. :lol

"I didn't have any Arabs in there. I thought that would be too explosive...no pun intended."

"This is an environment of welcoming...and you should..just get the hell out of here"

:lol Man, I'm so pleasantly surprised..

"You can eat colored greens and pad thai"
"They're called collared greens"
"That doesn't make any sense. It would be offensive to colored people."

:lol

So far I'm getting way more laughs per episode than I ever did with The Office (UK).

The Chris Rock routine was great.

Colored Greens :lol

Thing is, the laughs were only part of the show. The brilliance of the UK Office is how the show was able to instill sympathy for and pathos in the characters WHILE you were laughing at them.

"Office" really needs to start branching off with their own scenarios and plotlines to avoid head-to-head comparisons against the British version. There's just no way it can compete, and luckily it seems like they're starting to do that.

All the more impressive considering that each season had only, what, 6 episodes?

I only felt embarassment for most of UK Office's cast.

Office was funny as hell :lol The Boss reminds me of Perry Cox from Scrubs; I hate him yet wait for everything he's about to say :lol

These are all original US scripts. Just the pilot was taken from the UK pilot. I thought tonight was friggin funny...

I worship at the altar of the UK series.

Tonight's episode was really funny, though. I think I'm gonna grow to really like the American version.

Hmm, seems like the US Office is actually funny, unlike the british series. Sorry peeps, but like border, I just felt embarrassment for the characters. Didn't feel TEH FUNNEE.

Well, I have to retract my previous statement about only feeling embarassed -- did I feel legitimately sad for UK Office's David Brent
when he begs not to be fired
? Yes. Will I feel sorry for US Office's boss if he's ever put in the same situation? Probably not -- he's too big of a jerk/doofus. He's funny, but I don't think the heart is really there.

So yeah, there is a little more connection with the characters in the UK series. But at the end of the day, I'll rate the two versions on how much they made me laugh. So far the US version is scoring the most points in that area. NBC's Office is really too good to stay on the air though. I wonder if they will manage to produce more episodes than UK Office?

Yeah tonight's episode had me rolling. Only comedy other than Arrested Development on broadcast TV to make me laugh as hard as I did tonight in a loooong time. The colored greens line was just incredible -- seriously, there were a few lines in this where I was kinda shocked at how "offensive" it could be. Keep on pushing the limit NBC. :D

Brian Fellows

Pete Carroll Owns Me
This show is quickly moving into 3rd place on my list of network comedies behind Arrested Development and Scrubs.

I still think Carrel's character could stand to be toned down slightly though.

Oh and "HOLY FRICK" Scubs was great as usual.

The characters try too hard to adapt the mannerisms of the original cast and its distracting. The second episode was a lot funnier though. If they do more to make it thier own thing I think it could work.

This is the first episode of the Office I've seen.. and it was pretty enjoyable. Not as good as Arrested Development, but still pretty funny.. especially Carell's stuff.. he's awesome.. :D

Watched it last night, not bad, laughed in a few places which is all I can ask. I don't like the Gareth character (Dwight?) and Carrell.... well in the first episode, I found it funny but because I was imagining Gervais doing the same thing. I prefer Brent to whatever Carrell's character name is, Carrell is just a bit too zany for me. But I'm trying to watch this as a re-telling of the original rather than pikcing the show up and planting it in the US.

I enjoyed the UK version quite a bit, and watched both episodes of the US version. I've had a hard time comparing the two casts so far. I'm use to the UK cast, so it's taking a bit to get into the US cast. That said, the second episode was much funnier then the first. I'll give it a little time to see if it grows on me.
