I'm guessing the Weezer I knew is gone forever, but I'll definitely listen to this when I get the chance.

i saw this last night.

i hope we get a sneak peak at it sometime soon!

but i guess this means the album's done? i had thought there was more work to be completed upon rivers graduation this past semester.

when i first saw the title of the new single...i instantly thought "saturday night" for some reason. meh. gonna keep my hopes down.

I actually have high hopes for the new Weezer album. When I take a look back at the Green Album, it really has aged well. They're still a great band.

If it's not from Songs from a Black Hole and its not named Blast Off -- I don't know that I'm interested.

The best part about Weezer and their fall from grace post-Pinkerton was that Matt Sharp left, that way you can always say, "Yeah I like weezer" and then attach the caveat, "but only the original lineup who made the first two records."

While I don't think the albums have been as good since Matt left, Scott is actually doing a much better job on bass (I don't even know wtf was up with Mikey). The intro bass part to Burndt Jamb from the Maladroit demos was awesome. I don't know why they cut it out of the final version. :(((

can we just have songs from the black hole already :(((

we'll get it eventually, the band has already said as much. it's just a matter of a when, not if.

I don't know if I want it to be a re-named Summer 2k song or a totally new one.

it is NOT a renamed summer song. these are completely brand new, from when rivers was hibernating with rick rubin. at the same time, vague comments on the web site indicate we shouldn't expect anything too out there, unless they've been put there to throw us off. i really thought this might be a strange album for weezer, but so far, it's seeming par for the course (for good or ill, who knows?).

I've got high hopes, I must admit.

This will definitely be a new song, like Exxy said. Also, I assume the March date for the single gives Rivers and co. time to finish mixing if it's not already finished, although I assume that they've got most of the album (including this single) totally finished and are only planning on re-recording or re-mixing a handful of songs. We'll see... hopefully Karl will update us soon.

now that we have confirmation from karl about the single on a couple of forums, i assume we will start hearing more on the site soon. 2005 is really going to be a weezer year, and i couldn't be more excited. tour, here we come!

I know it won't be a Summer 2K song - but there are some songs from that era that need to be brought back and recorded properly - new title or not.

they won't.

reworked mad kow (would have loved a properly mixed version with piano), superstar, et al. are all we're going to ever see of those songs again. they're dead. it was almost five years ago, man! i wouldn't blame 'em for wanting to move on.

The real news is this:

The White Stripes TBD (V2)

:D

The White Stripes suck and are the most overrated band of the past 10 years. Shut up.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

No, seriously, is this true? Oh, holy crap. I have been waiting years to hear that. I've been out of the loop for so long regarding Weezer. "Blast Off" has one of the greatest melodies I've ever heard. I think even Rivers said as much. :)

green is better than pinkerton and blue!
Oh no you didn't.

Well, they're like a different band on green, so it's hard to compare.

so i guess it's called Make Believe. coming out in May!

Hurrah!

I was actually at the BH video shoot. The song is pretty good and quite catchy. The lyrics aren't the greatest, but the guitar sounds very blue albumish. Other song titles include "Peace" and "We're All On Drugs." Opinions have been mixed on the rest of the material but mostly positive from those lucky enough to hear it.

That's good to hear. And to be honest, I'm glad that the lead single has a lyrical theme.
At least it's not another one of those "Rah, this song makes no sense and makes a vague reference to drugs"...

What about the blatant Dave Ghrol/Foo Fighters fanboyism, was that taken into account too? :(

Wtf, people. I'm still here and I love the White Stripes, kids. It was just a meaningless troll.
