I agree with drohne. Even with its flaws, Sonic Heroes is a fun title that completely destroys the Adventure games.

Well that opinion is..... unique.Lindsay said:Sonic R is what 3d Sonic should be. ^_^

Yeah, that's what I thought. I would have thought they would have put the next Sonic only on Xbox or PSP or something, but they're actually being smart...CVXFREAK said:At least Sega knows what sells.

2005 looks to be the year of the gamecube, but its too little too late.
goodcow said:A new Zelda, RE4 which is going to be ported anyway, and a new Sonic game which will likely suck ass because Sonic Team appears to be talentless now = year of the gamecube?
Johnny Nighttrain said:alright man, they really like, need to stop making those 3D sonic games already....well, i'll be okay with it, but make it Sonic only please. if not, don't waste anyones time.
and even then, the sonic only levels were meh. fun the first time atleast.

If any of the key characters (Tails and Knuckles) were left out the fans would be upset. I think Big, Cream, Charmy really let down the series as a whole. It was nice to see old character's return but I think only Espio was handled right.
Another thing is the hints in the 3D Sonics. In adventure 1 you went touched the glowing sphere but it was your choice whether you wanted the hint or not. In SA2 you were forced to run into Omochao whether you wanted to or not and doing so appears patronising. Same with heroes and its hints. I don't mind the characters talking to each other - it makes sense that they would, but not with the same phrases all the time "Look at all of those of Eggman's robots" esp. when they're grammatically incorrect.
I wonder what all the GC supporters that bitched when Sonic went multiplatform are saying now. (queue multiplatform announcement)

A massive Sonic epic, with the option to go through the same levels as other characters (with some important differences), if you want to. Everybody is happy.
Fight for Freeform said:Sonic was all about the physics, in the 2D days. That was one big thing it had over Mario. It used a great physics engine for his movement, and the use of gadgets in a level. Bouncing off an enemy was predictable...which is a good thing.
The 3D versions didn't carry the physics over well. Many things were hacked and automated...
I can make a better Sonic game than Sonic Team...I'm not looking forward to this at all.
In 3D, no question. In 2D, no way.TomthebombServo said:And I'm afraid Mario physics own Sonic's, you can stretch the timing of how to kill enemies much more intuitively.
AniHawk said:Sega needs to make Sonic Adventure 3, but with Sonic, Tails, Shadow, and Knuckles having their own levels or own paths in levels. Get rid of all the extra stuff, and fix the fucking camera. Get rid of the voice acting. The $1000 they pay those guys could go to other more important things.

I really do think it could work. This is really what we need though. I didn't mind the gameplay of the Adventure game but I would love to see a return to the good old side-scrolling elements. IMO, Sonic has never been better than in 2D.SantaCruZer said:Just give me sonic in viewtiful Joe style. It might work.

Has tons of info and quotes about the game's engine with the game's former lead devs, sound slike it would have been a bit of a better mix of the new and old than the SA games. For game engine info, tidbits about Naka getting mad at the SOA devs and more read it here, long but well worth it:

Man, would be so awesome to have been able to try this in some form.
