To be honest I don't enjoy rap at all, in any form. It's just a style of music in general that I never learned to appreciate over the years, even after expanding my tastes.

That said, you're being a bit harsh. Quality rap music exists. I'm not into it, but it's there.

Country music has its moments, too. Pretty much everything in the mainstream is garbage though. The likes of Ryan Adams and Gillian Welch come recommended as alternatives.

Rap is...mostly lyrics, with some sort of rhythm to tie it all together.

If you're not in it for the lyrics, considering how lyric-heavy rap music is, then I don't see why you wouldn't just listen to something else instead.
