New Too Human info...

Correct me if this is old, but I don't remember reading this anywhere...

The story of 'too human' is very much related to its title, apparently every time you die in the game, you gain another biomechanical part on your body, replacing one of your original organs/limbs - the goal of the game is to finish with as much of your body in it's original components as possible.

i could see people wanting to die as often as possible just to see how robotic they can become

I think this information predates GAF.

It is like, 1997-era old. Did you read that on UltraGamePlayers.com?

The kicker is, that part of the game isn't even implemented yet- apparently the design team gets all these 'facts' about the game, and they're told do make it work, and before they can, they get more 'facts' which sort of expands on the storyline - no one knows the entire storyline as best I can tell, so it's kind of 'in the dark' type thing.

But basically, the story heavily relies on man vs machine, and the strugge to remain human.

edit: jackfrost, no, I know people who are working on the game, buddeh.

This is how shitty, hobbled together software gets made. I certainly hope a company investing millions of dollars in a project isn't doing something so hadhazard. Running a project like this would make it impossible to properly date milestones and develop test plans.

So, you could say that they're kept in........ETERNAL DARKNESS??????????????

I think it could be cool as long as the cybernetics are interesting and not just stat boosts. That way, people might challenge themselves to try to get through the game without relying on the cyberware, especially if the game makes a major point about losing humanity through overaugmentation (like they do in the Shadowrun universe). Like someone said, it would also let the difficulty adjust by making bad players more powerful and giving good players a challenge by making them have less of an advantage over enemies.

On the otherhand, it seems odd to deny gamers access to the upgrades simply because they play the game right and don't get killed. They will have to give gamers a compelling reason to stay human. Apparently, normal humans like Baldur more than the rest of the gods b/c he is more "human" and relatable. I wonder if people will become increasingly alienated from Baldur if he becomes more of a machine and less of a person.

I don't like the way the game is being made, with the top guys just giving cryptic directions to the design team and forcing them to go with it. Games are good when the designers try new things and see if they are working out. Just forcing elements into the game because you think they would be good does not insure that those mechanics should stay in the game.

Ask them if they're trying to outdo DNF in terms of longest time in development. I've heard about this game for like a decade already.

I keep hearing about this "Too Human" game and know it pertains to some tech demo or teaser, but I've never seen it. Anyone got a link to the clip?
