No, this will rule. I love the premise of it.

The Orson Wells radio broadcast was real, but everyone thought it was fake. It really happened and the aliens have been living underground adapting to our bacteria ever since.

Source? Also, that doesn't fit with what has been openly stated by the producers (the aliens
aren't Martians

Heh, no all they said was that the aliens in the movie
aren't from Mars because they are from underground and were on Earth the whole time since the original invasion.
They were very careful with their wording ;)

Q: Are they Martians?

KENNEDY: No, they're not Martians. The feeling was that we know so much about Mars now that doesn't really fall into the realm of realistic expectations.
