New X360 BC bootscreen?

For some reason I couldn't play any Xbox games on my 360 and for a short while I had a new Xbox BC boot screen. Inexplicably it managed to fix itself after restarting and now I have no problems. I apologize if this is/was a known issue, I tried searching the forum but I couldn't find any mention of this issue.

Here’s what happened:
I managed to have Chaos Theory working on my 360 with the new updates but today it refused to work. I decided to go through the procedure I previously used to get Chaos Theory to work on the 360 (posted here) in hopes that I might be able to play the game again. I started by deleting my saved games and popped in the BC update disc. Loading up the BC disc was useless however since I had already updated the system before, so I was booted back to the main OS. Hoping that merely deleting my sold saved games would solve the problem I popped in the Chaos Theory disc. To my surprise I'm treated to a brand new Xbox boot screen. Not the standard green blob but some weird green gaseous hodgepodge of effects that culminates into a sphere with the word Xbox and then it explodes. This odd update also happened to break all compatibility with my BC games: Forza, Chaos Theory, and Halo 2. Upon restarting my system the problem seemed to have corrected itself fortunately and now I can play Chaos Theory again!

Here’s the video:

looks like what happens when you put a xbox game in a dvd player. you get that video.
Interesting, I didn't know that. Sorry for wasting your time guys.

I guess for a quick moment any and all XBox game recognition software on my 360 stopped working.

Who puts Xbox games in DVD players? :boggle:

The new -- if we can even call it that -- opening screen is too over the top... :lol

yeah, before I replaced my DVD drive on my Xbox I actually got that from time to time. Just means it didnt recognize it as an Xbox game and tried to play it as a movie.

Just put any xbox game in any DVD drive and it will play that clip.
imho that video should be the default intro of the console, but nooooo! MS decided that the fucking flubber was better

Similar, but maybe I'm on crack. At a buddy's house last night, I suspected his AV cable was set to TV, not HDTV. I booted back to hisdash and noticed in the video settings a small text error message in the bottom left explaining that the switch was mis-set.

Was that there before, or did they update the dashboard on the sly?

Naw, that was there before. You see the message when you try to change to HDTV settings if the switch is in the wrong position. It certainly doesn't jump out at you though, you have to be paying attention!

Thanks, I thought I'd gone mad. I even checked the ver. number.

Yeah, it's been mentioned before but that's alll that video is . There's even the warning message at the end saying this is an xbox game disc. :P

The worst system for this was the sega saturn though, dunno how many times it failed to recognize games kept reading them as cd's.

I've never seen that video and I first thought that was routine for telling you you're about to enter the incomplete world of Backwards Compatibility.
