ok im using the news server provided by my cable isp. more than half the files are incomplete. when i click "show incomplete posts" the list grows incredibly. what the hell is up with that?

ive been using grabit and newsbin pro. ARGGGGGG

astraweb is good, I've been using it on and off for a year. Good price and good retention.

I use Easynews myself - 10GB for $10 a month, about 20 days retention on the web site.
No problems with them.

My ISP news is pretty flaky too.

Haven't heard anything bad about astraweb, sounds like a very good deal.

Use Newsleecher, best grabber ATM. VERY easy to use, multiple simultanious connections and support for everything, including the very handy *.NZB's (not including Newspro, the grabber for the super experienced. The amount of options in that one will make you crazy)


It isn't freeware though, you can use it for 30 days. (usually, there's a new version after 30 days so no real harm done) and if you're willing to spend that much a month for a payserver, 35 bucks for a very good program won't kill you either

I use EasyNews but I've heard great things about Astraweb. I have no overall complaints with EasyNews but I will probably end up switching just based upon the price differences.

I just got done with Astraweb. It's a decent service for the price....$10/month for unlimited downloads.

In larger groups though you will be lucky to get much more than a week of retention. I also encountered a lot of weird and frustrating technical errors -- messages about how a file that I just downloaded half of is now "Not on the server" (and 1 day later it's back again), or how a file I have half of "Doesn't match article size" (and thus GrabIt refuses to download it).

I'm now on Giganews, which has always been the Cadillac of news servers. Unlimited download bandwidth and superb reliability for $22.99 a month. Retention is insanely good as well.

I recommend newshosting.com as your provider. 14.95 a month for unlimited and they just upgraded their servers and now we have 35 days retention for all binary groups.

The retention even goes back further than advertised sometimes. Today I pulled files from August 8th.
