You seem to be confused. The user using the PS4 in the PS4 OS only sees base 10 GB. Not base 2 as in GiB. I'm not talking about how the system counts the bytes in the background.

Use your PS4. I just did. I had 998 MB of themes. I downloaded a 15 MB theme. Thats 1013 MB. But It says 1.02 GB on my PS4 not 1013 MB (because it rounds up also).

Thats base 10. Its what the user sees in the OS. 1020 MB = 1.02 GB not 1.02 GiB. 1020 MB = 0.996 GiB.

Once the drive is formatted in the PS4, it uses GiB.

Proof:

How else do you explain a 2TB drive, when formatted for extended storage in the PS4, having only 1.84TB available? The OS isn't on this drive.

But its dynamic 4k unlike Halo, goddamnit!!

That game is closer to a remaster then these two are. What they showed us was essentially a remastered version of Halo Infinite on the XSX. I don't know how else to describe it.

Just forget it, you seem to zero understanding of what I'm talking about. You are literally missing the entire point.

You are saying that the PS4 storage UI shows GB (Base 10 values). I'm saying you are wrong. It shows GiB values, Base 2.

If that video is accurate with the 664GiB usable, it means the PS5 reserves 104GiB, versus the ~ 46GiB the PS4 reserves on a a 500GB HDD.

So the PS5 IO is capable currently of 17.38GB/s with Kraken/Oodle.
So isn't this equivalent to DDR4 2133Mhz:17 GB/s.
Or I'm I way off with this comparison.

You're in never-never land for the most part. It's difficult to achieve more than 50% compression on a consistent basis. You will have some specific files that will hit that, but never the majority. There's a reason PS didn't go there with their own estimates.

On my PS4 PRO with regular SSD roughly 20 seconds that Russian leak was absolutely fake, PS5 as fast as PS4 Pro on regular SSD? There is no way.

Impossible. PS5 doesn't exist. Nothing will be shipped to millions of people in November. It's all a trick. In fact, the yields on the GPU are so bad that so far only a single PS5 system has been produced, it sits at Sony's headquarters and it's on that one that all the gameplay videos have been recorded.

It was before they announced Oodle Texture's universal license (it was clarified that those numbers did not include the RDO pre-processing step) and the 17-18 GB/s comes from RAD Game Tools/Oodle themselves which have reasons to promote their tech sure, but we're starting from a rea world scenario.

My point when comparing to bandwidth of DDR4 is random access latency and speed that the SSD solution would not match.

The thing about theoretical maximums with compression tech, is that if used to the max, end users wouldn't like the results. Oodle is lossy, the max theoreticals they post would result in horrific image quality.

No.

You can put lamda 40 into the examples, heavy compression, and compare lots of examples.

If you see a difference, come back and tell us.

Now that is much better loading, that's what i want to see,
And we could be going even lower on the ps5, maybe instant.

good times ahead.

Anyone that has a nice pc and an ssd tell me how roughly the load times are for doom?

Is this much faster, slower? same ball park.
thx you

and it was meant to be an edit not my own reply lol FFS "lollipop_disappointed:

One will sell way more but both have the same hype?
I should've been clearer, over all ps5 buyers the average hype isn't more than the average hype over all xbox buyers.

Not that it matters, more importantly I'm looking forward to Bo_Hazem Bo_Hazem more technical topic. Hope he learned his lesson, will take him of my ignore list. Liked him before he went all fanatic.

So your example of assets with greater than 50% compression is a page that returns images on the max setting presented at about 50%.

I don't understand its a fridge, it got hot? :messenger_grimmacing_

All these systems need to operate in a well ventilated area. They are not designed to function in places where they can't circulate the air efficiently. Pretty sure if you put a plastic bag over each system you will run into issues.

Who knows what this person was doing to the XSX. That's assuming this is true if course.

Sure, in some cases you may also trade performance for lossless savings (BC7Prep instead or on top of the baseline RDO step) and in some others you will be tweaking per texture per scene to ensure you maximise either install size of texture variety or both. Oodle has pretty good savings at near lossy settings too.
We know that the 8-9 GB/s numbers were not considering Oodle Texture so even at conservative near lossless settings, the number can grow higher than that on average. Still, sure only some idea rare scenarios will push anywhere near 15-18 GB/S and even rarer will max out the 22 GB/s the unit can work at.

That's good to see. I wonder how fast it loads on the PS5?

It says "continue the game" in spanish/portuguese.
does that not mean, the tester had to preloaded it before? every asset?
wouldnt it say "load game session name of the map"?

have not playe eternal, didnt like quake 2016 much.

Brothers?

you mean like from a death, i don't know maybe.

I have not played the most recent Doom, i played the 2016 one, i imagine the load times in the new game would be longer due to it being more advanced as a game.

Although the load times were not awful on my ps4, they were still way to long imo.

Its going to b e interesting to see when we get more imformation.

Looks like another okie doke. Cold boot that bitch. Don't clip what you want people to see. Was this suppose to counter the 2K news??

Xbox are going on overtime with this quick resume and quickness talk. When they know fully well they are slower. There's too much overcompensating going on. Even the xbox minions at it. Why are they going so hard? What are you trying to get in front off?

If you got it ,just show it. The market will decide. All these apologist doing extra work. Hella suspect.

They have preview units which are not final hardware. There could be something wrong with the unit she received. Or this could be fake, as i'm sure that would violate NDA.

I find it odd they would use the old error prop from OG X1 verbatim. I think if you've taken the PSU out and placed it on the bed, there's your problem. With that said, I'm sure the system does have an error message for overheating, and maybe they just didn't bother to update it. Put a book on top and I'm sure you can fry it in no time.
