next gen systems and x-arcade

microsoft had better make plans to support the x-arcade with the 360 the same goes for sony and nintendo , or there will be some pissed off consumers

Firstly, the onus is not on Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo. The onus is on X-Gaming alone. If the X-Arcade was a successful enough product for them, then they will certainly try to carry on to the next gen. If they deem another run a possible loss, then we won't see two or three new adaptors.

Secondly, the X-Arcade only sucks when used with its console adaptors. It is the grandaddy of the anti-lag movement, as it's adaptors un-mistakenly cause lag. When used as a PC stick, optimally via USB, it is a nice product indeed.

Many are quick to bash it's lack of Happ parts, but the BoaLian clones that it shipped with are plenty good for emu play as is, and are certainly no worse than what ships in every Hori stick besides the RAP series.

So, is there any way to improve the time response when playing with consoles?

I've just bought the 2-player X-Arcade stick to use with Soul Calibur 2 on the Xbox.

Is the stick okay for this purpose?

Not really. To do so would require replacing the current electronics or adding a parallel set. At the very least, soldering in a S-Type PCB.

Embaressingly enough, I played SC2 and all manner of fighters with my X for oer a year, never noticing the lag, and I did quite well. 'Course it bears mentioning that 90% of my opponents were scrub-alicious.

IMO, the lag is slight enough as not to hinder the play of a casual as they grow accustomed to using a stick instead of a pad. Don't even bother parrying in 3rd Strike though. Eventually, you should move on to something better.

For a beginner, I'd be more worried about the serial port flaking out as it did on two of my units. I outlined a method to prevent this damage here.

It also bears mentioning that I haven't used a new X in over a year, so changes to their hardware could have come about, but I wouldn't bank on it.

it's more up to the developers of X-Arcade than Microsoft. They have to apply for a license in order to get approval (and possibly SDKs) to get their hardware working on X360

well the good news is that the 360 and the ps3 have usb ports, so maybe using the usb input as you would to a pc may make it perfect for next gen fighters as the lag wont be noticable

Come on, man, think. What is the X-Arcade inputting?

It's inputting keyboard commands. It is nothing but a keyboard emulator. So why would a console by MS and a console by Sony accept PC format keyboard input for their fighting games? The existing USB adaptor is just a standard serial PS/2-USB adaptor and will never be useful to a console unless you wanted to use your X-Arcade for typing.

If you are serious about using your X on the new consoles, just wait and see what X-Gaming does. If they refuse to make new adaptors, then it's Mod Time.
