Can you fly Bobby?

I think the cherry on top here is it's MOBA Network that did it.

For those that don't want to/can't be bothered reading Cerium's post, he says that mods are volunteers.

Cerium might buy them a hot dog and coke if they are lucky.

Cerium: "Yeah...nah..."

This exactly. Regardless of what happened, the sheer professionalism of the takeover has to be respected. It was, even back then, so amazingly obvious that the new site was done for the sake of money and not due to some glorious higher purpose. The preparedness of it all, and how it seemed to be forgotten under the guise of being "saved" was interesting to say the least. Many users may have moved for various reasons, but many just got swept away.
You appear to have professionalism and greed mixed up. There's no way in hell the site is worth 4.5M, not even on a good day. People only bought into the premise of it because it was being toted as GAF 2.0 with a more relaxed community feel. But when push came to shove, it was GAF 0.5 - a step back. There's nothing professional there - or nothing professional about posting the news at midnight - the whole thing is a shambles.

If you look at business as of a whole, they tend to walk hand in hand. It was profesionally executed, with greed as the underlying driver.

It was amazing how the power of public opinion can sway people. Hell, I even nuked my old account back then. I stayed away from Neogaf, don't even know why, but got more and more tired of the heavy handedness of the moderation there (not a receiver, just saw it happen). While I am 100% pro anything hbtq rights, pretty much anti-theist, and some commenters here really go against my personal opinions, I rather prefer an environment where discussion is open and straight forward instead of heavily moderated. That is kind of the point of discussion, isn't it?

Never heard of M.O.B.A Network before this, but I don't touch Esports to begin with. Anyone actually use their services?
I'm just going to assume it's another Swedish money laundering scheme.

Hahaha yeah I'm sure he is going to donate to your insane causes...
I would LOVE if they start opening a lot of topics everyday to ask for donations, easy way to unmask this guy...

Let's see if he can put the money where is digital tongue is...

This is soooooo dumb. Just short of $82 per member is crazy!

Its not like its growing either as an outlet, its been pretty much flat there for ages now.

I am looking forward to the penny dropping that they've all been pawns in a capitalistic game. Here's hoping they demand "reparations!"

The ghouls that he enlisted to moderate and run his forum for him won't see a dime, and will likely be banned shortly after take over because they're frankly nothing more than bullies and everyone knows it.

This "Cerium" guy reminds me of Ray Kroc.

The transectional sofas must be pulling out them blue hair because of this announcement. As long ss the zoo animals don't invade here. But how obvious it was from the start that it was just a money grab.

Did they miss the Media Create Sales fiasko in september?
Reeeee is a dying platform, as more and more people are waking up over there. Pretty bad investment.

They know it and that's why they sold now. That place can implode at any second.

So-called "left wing" liberalism in action. No ownership by the community. All the people who worked hard building their "brand safe" platform get nothing.

Nothings going to change?

Isnt this what was said about the first forum I ever joined......it died shortly after.

This is hilarious. They paid $80 a member, but each member only generates $12 a year. They also ban more people than they have new users signing up, which means not only are they declining in usership, but it would take this company 7 years to recoup their money at the current total.

Guess what that means? It means, for all the talk about the new owners being hands off, there are going to be a lot of shitty changes on that site in the near future that the community won't like. Add to that the constant implosions that keep happening over there and I give the site a couple more years, at best.

for a moment i thought they were going to get an competent mod team, but seemz like the same people will remain in charge and this is just for advertising

Basically some investment-driven company just acquired it as an investment. The site's current administration / moderation scream the opposite of growth and potential to 99% of people out there on the internet.

It's pretty obvious what is about to happen, and I am here for it.

Owner made off like a bandit. That site is only worth 4.5m if it grows by several hundred percent in the next couple years. I don't see it unless they open up the registrations.

Is this the new resetera clown thread? Let's go. It's been sorely missed. I wonder if a few more of the moderates will start trickling over here now.
