Next Twitch Marathon is Anime (Really Anime from Crunchyroll)

I turn it on and I see women flying with guns and praying to God

what the hell is this

Trash at first, turns into fun trash after this episode. The main purpose of this episode is to establish what everyone else thinks of Tanya, before delving into her actual character and how that vastly differs. A good comparison for this show would be The Flashman Papers, in that sense.

Fair word of warning: Tanya is a really fun show but the first episode is garbage and isn't representative of the full thing at all. Wait until episode 2 and 3.
Yeah, the first episode is misleading. I think I understand what they were going for, but I hated the show after the first episode.

I'm glad I stuck with it, though.

so uh

how is making the protagonist an edgelord atheist douchebag supposed to make the show more enjoyable

Because the show is about them
getting dicked over by circumstance, misunderstandings, their own talent, and God him/herself from getting what they most want. Over and over and over.

Yeah I'm lost. So an asshole edgelord atheist dies and rather than say "fuck him" and leave him be, 'God' decided he wasn't pleased with having a nonbeliever and reincarnated the dude into a loli? LOL

The longer you watch, the more you realize this is a
dark comedy
more than anything else.

So she's like Black Mage from 8-Bit Theater only with slightly less murder?

Japanese saleryman dies, reincarnated into little girl that fights in magic World War 1 with Germany who hates God despite numerous encounters.

New ending already?

This is the main ED. Ep 1 didn't have an OP or ED and ep 2 used the OP as the ED theme because it also didn't have an OP.

The first episodes do that thing where they use the shows opening song at the end of the episode instead of the ending song.

It's also a surprisingly competently rendered alt-universe war series. I really enjoy the thought the author clearly put into the politics, strategies, and tactics of war in a world with mages.

Incredibly silly premise aside, I enjoyed it quite a bit for that aspect alone. The dark comedy just adds to the appeal.

Unsurprisingly, the original author is a fan of Europa Universalis.

That's true. I actually think it would have been received better if the author didn't go the "she's fucking 9 years old" route. It's really ridiculous for what is otherwise a grounded anime.
