  • MNF will introduce a new show open, plus new graphics, animations and a more modern shield logo.
  • MNF will add Pylon Cam to its regular season coverage after a successful test in the preseason. The system uses four custom-molded goal line pylons that house four cameras each to offer brand new perspectives around the goal line. ESPN was the first network to use Pylon Cam during the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship.
  • The MNF production will feature a new booth backdrop; weekly telecasts will utilize four Dreamcatchers, six Sony 4300 cameras in high frame rate 1080p, one Sony 4300 in high frame rate UHD 4k at the high end zone, and two iMovix Phantom cameras in high frame rate UHD 4k on the goal lines.
  • In celebration of Frank Gifford’s life and longtime contributions to MNF, the No. 16 he wore as a Giants player will be on all of the MNF production trucks this season. Tirico and Gruden will also wear No. 16 lapel pins during games. Gifford’s voice will also be part of ESPN’s new MNF show open.
  • Sunday NFL Countdown’s veteran host Chris Berman will handle play-by-play for the Vikings-49ers game alongside analyst Trent Dilfer and reporter Lindsay Czarniak.
  • ESPN will have a camera at every NFL game on Sundays.
  • Suzy Kolber is now a full-time host on Monday Night Countdown. She will be joined by Trent Dilfer, Ray Lewis and Steve Young from the site of each week’s Monday Night Football
  • Former NFL general manager Joe Banner and head coach Greg Schiano are the newest members of ESPN’s NFL team.

Browns cornerback Justin Gilbert crashed his Dodge Challenger into a ditch following a road rage incident with a driver he believed cut him off, according to the Brunswick police department.

ESPN Cleveland reports Gilbert swapped middle fingers with the other driver before throwing a paper cup full of dip spit onto the 55-year-old Parma man’s windshield, according to cops. That man, driving a Ford Mustang, then reportedly chased Gilbert while “driving like a maniac,” according to witnesses quoted by police.

Police cited Gilbert for lack of responsible control.

You know there's no coming back from Fox getting to disrespect your ass tomorrow right?

The jig is up when even the Jets fans are laughing at you.

This is the most intriguing game of the entire season. Everyone has optimism going into the first game of the season, you still can hold out hope maybe you get hot and can squeeze in but this game man...this game.

Jets fans believe if they lose to the Browns, the season is over, lose all the games and get the #1 pick.

Browns fans believe if they lose to the Jets, the season is over, lose all the games and get the #1 pick.

Both these teams are so shit the optimism from both fanbases are exactly the same!

It's definitely the most intriguing 1pm match up tomorrow.

Why is that significant?

Did they always have that? I feel like, especially for online, they never show game highlights because they're always from other networks. They just show their little video recap with analysts talking.

I'm assuming now that they have their own cameras at games, they'll actually show their own game highlights on ESPN.com

I have an ironic love for the parody that Berman has become, but I'm dreading having to listen to his schtick for my team's opener.

If Butler can become an ok number one corner Pats defense should be ok this season. Going to struggle against the better offenses in the league, but at least they won't be as terrible as they have been in the past. Big key is Butler, and that dline. If the two young DTs and Butler pan out pats defense will be solid. Good enough to win a super bowl with. Those are the two really big question marks for this team though. Who knows how they will pan out. Also, still can't believe how well the three rookie olineman played. They were truly awful blocking backups in the preseason, and suddenly they figured out how to block for a night. Doesn't hurt that Brady gets the ball out so quickly, but they still played well. This is going to be another fun season to watch.

well he had a pretty good game against antonio brown so the outlook is good

Butler is running on pure confidence after the Super Bowl. Let's see how he recovers after getting completely burned for an entire game (happens to all CBs).

I really think you need a shutdown corner to succeed in the playoffs. Cowboys are screwed :(

Elite pass rushers can hide middling secondary talent. Cowboys might actually be alright in that area.

Remember, one elite cornerback means very little if everyone else around him isn't great. It's easier to avoid one elite CB than elite pass rushers.
