Seriously though - why are the refs so bad this year? I know that we all bash on them every single game, but it seems like they are missing the obvious this year while calling the miniscule. Is it the league pushing specific points of emphasis? Lack of preparation?

I think the rules have gotten complex to the point of being obscure. No one knows how to define a catch, no one knows how to define unnecessary roughness. So much is left to interpretation, and the interpretation is poor and inconsistent.

yeah this was a good game for gabbert. not great, we still only got 13 points, but he made some good throws. compare this to kaps performance against the cards (and compare gabbert/kap performances vs. the seahawks) and you can see a huge difference between the QB's
