Fire Rivera, fire Shula, fire ...... Gettleman? Literally the architect of all our success over the past 4 years, dragging the rest of those chumps along for the ride. Makes zero sense.

He should have been fired as soon as the shit with Norman went down. Weird that the let him punt another offseason though before getting rid of him.


Edit: I just saw Mackenzie 92's post, yeah that was such an insane disaster. Big time CBs are so valuable and are super hard to replace.

I'm not surprised Gettleman got fired but the timing makes no sense. Should have just done it at the start of offseason. The Norman thing -was- ridiculous. Being obstinate for the sake of it is not a great way to run a team.

Sometimes you lose players. Even big stars. You can't keep everyone in the salary cap era, that's just how it goes. We resigned KK Short to a long term deal which was obviously the priority. Firing Gettleman over the Norman fiasco makes no sense, especially a year later.

There's no way that Richardson would tolerate it if Getts tried to pull the same thing with Thomas Davis that he did with Steve Smith.

In any event, Rivera is done by the bye week if they aren't winning and Shula would be close behind him.

We may be seeing wholesale regime change in Carolina 😬

Did they just happen to lose Norman, or did their idiot GM push him out the door?

Letting Norman walk out the door for nothing should have been a fireable offense. Looks like it finally caught up to him.

They offered him a franchise tender which he refused to sign and then pushed himself out the door. He could have played out the tender and made bank while negotiating a long term deal, which is what normal sane players do.

Dude took over a team that was in an absolutely horrid cap situation, hadn't had a winning season in a number of years and they ended up in the Super Bowl and in the playoffs every year outside of 2016 under his stewardship. They won something like 40 games under him.

Telling Josh Norman to fuck off is fine. He should take some shit for not getting SOME value out of Norman but its the role of the GM to determine the value of a player and he did that for better or worse. Mind numbing to see him fired when you see the positives vs the negatives he brought to the equation.

I wouldn't have fired him, just think the timing is insane... its a week till training camp. There must have been something else going on. Obviously he generally did a good job, if he wants to work for the Jets that'd be great. There wouldn't be any problem with him having poor relationships with star players on the Jets because they have none.

But yeah, I don't think this is solely because of how JNo was handled, but much more an accumulation of friction between owner and GM on how the GM was handling personnel moves. If you're going to summarily ship off players, make sure they aren't the owner's personal favorites. Smith, Williams, Norman...I'm sure he was trying to do the same thing to Davis (and probably lowballed Olsen) and Richardson decided enough was enough. The next GM will probably be another loyal to a fault type like Hurney.

I agree with you to a point, However the Panthers are starting to get a bad reputation around the league as a team that chews up and spits out players and that's not Kosher long term.

Also. I borrowed my cousin's PS4 and finally started BloodBorne. Christ is it hard.
