Never tried to do a brisket, it's on my bucket list.

Pork ribs are amazing but you have to get St. Louis style cut. Babybacks are bony garbage.

Brisket apparently is the hardest thing to do for BBQ. Can't cook too long, too high of heat, too low of heat...it's picky. Supposedly it's because it's a piece of shit cut of meat to begin with.

wienke is lookin' good these days!

Hey.

I only wore the DBZ tshirts from hot topic circa 2000-2001.

currently running on negative sleep and food

24 hours of train was a cool experience though (2 of them) - talked to all kinds of people on the train and at the stations

haven't had the chance to explore around Denver much, so I'm planning on that tomorrow after the wedding

Tip from an old, when you have kids, get them into sports, not dance. Just sat through a two hour ballet rectial and it was brutal (other than my daughter who was clearly the cutest and best dancer). Next week, it's a soccer tournament for the other kid, and that's way more entertaining.

7 things we learned from Lions OTAs and minicamp, plus a prediction

Despite what the Lions say, Taylor Decker is probably going to be their left tackle. There is a disconnect here. Detroit, mostly coach Jim Caldwell, keeps saying that Decker is working on both sides and anything is possible. But Decker was exclusively at left tackle for all three OTAs that were open to the media, then both days of minicamp as well. I never once saw him on the right side. And, conversely, I never saw Riley Reiff anywhere but right tackle.

Haloti Ngata looks good, and so does A'Shawn Robinson. Ngata missed a bunch of OTAs last year while moving his family to Michigan from the East Coast, then most of training camp with a hamstring injury. So he was a little sloppy, and didn't really turn it on until the second half of the season. But he looks good -- really, really good -- right now.

....With all due respect to Decker, Robinson has received more praise than any other rookie this offseason. He's surprisingly quick, despite checking in at 6-4 and 312 pounds. It'll be interesting to see what kind of damage he does once those pads go on.

TJ Jones' development is a real thing. I wasn't buying the buzz when Caldwell and Stafford first singled out the receiver as a possible breakout player in 2016. It felt like your garden-variety platitudes to me. But the third-year wideout was indeed impressive throughout the past few weeks. He was highly involved in the offense, rarely made mistakes, almost never dropped passes and just seemed like he knew what the hell he was doing. Which is maybe something he struggled with at this time last year, as he was working his way back from the nerve injury. I fully expect him to make the team as the No. 3 or No. 4 wideout.

I've always thought of Haloti Ngata as one of the best Defensive Tackles in the game since he was drafted, whether in a 3-4 defense they ran in Baltimore or the hybrid 4-3/3-4 defense Teryl Austin runs. It took some time for him to recover physically from his suspension and you could tell early in the season he would get gassed early in games, especially against Seattle. He's back 100% though and I can't wait to see him play with A'Shawn Robinson.

And if TJ Jones is indeed the real deal at WR that would make 3 legitimate stars on our offense out of Notre Dame on top of Golden Tate III and Theo Riddick. TJ Jones was taken in the 6th of the 2014 draft and had some nerve injury but stepped up late last year.

At the very least he's going to get a chance and plenty of open looks with an offense featuring Tate, Marvin Jones, Theo Riddick and Eric Ebron.

Pretty soon you'll be one of those that only go to concert halls for classical orchestra.
