I don't know if it was sarcasm, but you said in a post a couple of days ago that you had no problem with having a map as a 2nd screen.

I don't have a problem with it... In fact, I think it's helpful. There's some comedy in the fact that pretty much EVERY DS title has had a map on the bottom screen, though.

well yeah, map is good for games like castlevania where you check the map very often. It's pretty useless in a car game though.

Bah! I disagree. I always check the map in games like Mario Kart to see what kind of turns I'm approaching.

There not exactly much that can be done with a touch screen for a driving game though is there?

I would be willing to bet that the touch screen is used when your in the garage modding you car and also you will probably have to touch the screen to use you nitro boost.

I happen to learn the tracks in my head where to turn, so after a couple of runs it's worthless :)

Thats silly, can't you just gauge your turning from racing around the same track countless times? I mean sure you may need it once when running an unfamiliar track or to see what place the rest of the autos are in but a small on screen map will do the job you don't really need an entire screen for something like that. Inovative!

It would be easier to use a face button for the boost, though. If they make that touch screen they're just making the game more awkward to play.

It will be nice for garage desing. It would be sweet if you could draw on your own designs, too.

You could draw a logo. A JSR with graffiti-drawing would be nice and awesome. If the DS only had better graphics...

I tried checking the tiny screen-ratio... came to a perfect fit of 4:3 (equivalent to the DS's 256x192 resolution). Plus, I don't think Nintendo's official mag would degrade itself to showing photoshopped images :-/

Besides, many people thought NFSU on the GBA looks beyond expectations too. Don't know whether this version is done by Pocketeers too, but those guys do have some awesome skills getting the max out of a machine.

Judging from a small thumbnail? Haha. Sadly, I bet the game is better than Ridge Racer DS
The gameplay of that game really isn't bad. It's pretty fun, for what it is.

The problems: the graphics are totally ass (to the point where it was making the game unplayable, especially on some darker courses), it needs about 10 times the amount of soundtracks, the presentation sucks, and it has some collision-detection issues. If you're on a bright course, don't mind shitty soundtracks, and aren't hitting other cars, it's fun. But that itself definitely points to a bigger problem: every other part of the game, aside from the basic gameplay system, is shit.

The decal thing is awesome, that's just the kind of thing that the touch screen is good for. Perfect for drawing type situations.

Also, it looks better than every other racing game on DS based on those screens. Just like every sane person predicted, the DS is going to get games that look much, much better than people expect.

looks like you got your drawing :)

Actually... having played both VRally 3 and NFSU the NFSU engine is superior to the Vrally one. For starters the car is 3-D polygon and can be skinned with a custom paint job. The smooth looking car in Vrally was just a 2-D rendered sprite.

That said, I think the Vrally engine did what it had to do well, that is, as a rally game it worked.

Jeux-France has some other pics than the cover. Looking impressive.

The bottom screen also appears to be used for nitro control and creating custom decals.

What gave you that idea? The blurbs describing exactly what those bottom screens do?

It actually holds up pretty well compared to Rivals for PSP, although the latter still looks better.

I think we need some direct captures to make an even comparrison. But yeah, I'm happy how good NSFU2 looks on DS. I'm not surprised though, it seemed like people were expecting the visuals never to improve :|
