Nielsen:Spider-Man: Miles Morales , Avengers and Call of Duty are fall's most-anticipated games

It's my job to shine a light on the casuals who embrace uninspired, formulaic game design. I'm honored to shit on Ratchet and Clank 12 for the betterment of NeoGAF.

Says the man who thinks Fortnite is game of the generation.

You must be some unoptimised troll bot or something. Epic should recall you for servicing.

I was interested in Avengers, before they started talking about the macrotransactions. Now I want it to die a horrible death. Alone and in pain.

All the characters and story DLC are free. So you only care about dresses and costumes like Sterling, yeah? I'm sure you can find an Avenger Barbie instead.

For me I'm only really anticipating Cyberpunk 2077, but if the rumors are true about Call of Duty being a massive campaign with open levels, optional objectives and Hitman-like structure I'm down.

not to get off topic but I can't think of a single game that has been more widely played and engrained in pop culture this gen then fort nite. You can not like it (I personally hate battle royal games) but can't ignore how important its been to the enitre industry this gen. Only thing that comes close might be mine craft, another game I don't care for.

Eh, Cyberpunk does it for me. I hope that Cold War will be a decent COD iteration, but that isn't say much. they're all kind of treated the same for the most part. At least by me. Avengers? Lol. After the beta and watching LIRIK play it majority of the day, ehhhhhh. I'm in no rush to pick it up. I'm sure people are hyped about Spider-Man, and I'm sure it'll be good. But I wonder if it's gonna be long enough to keep people interested for awhile, or at least as long as the other titles.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Cyber Punk are my personal number 1 & 2 most wanted games this fall. Not too surprised by the COD and Avengers nod by many, but do little for me. Might check them out, might not.

That's fortnite in a nutshell. They ripped off PUBG and stole their lunch because it's a lot more accessible and it wasn't a janky piece of shit. The game design is the other 100 players on the map, that's where the thrill comes from, it's not some masterclass in game design. Sometimes the most popular games are the most formulaic ones.

And I say that as someone who doesn't even hate the game, it can be fun and I respect it. I bought into it when you needed to buy save the world to get access to the battle royal stuff ffs.

Literally buying a PS5 just for Spider-Man and Avengers. Between those two I'm good till next year. Spider-Man was my GOTY the year it released and Avengers is my GOTY this year so I'm happy as a pig in shit.

Edited out, I just don't correlate importance with quality.

I was told that this was only Spiderman DLC and Sony has an uninteresting launch....So i thought nobody was interested in Mile Morales at launch. Tepid launch that....

Fall's most anticipated games are who will reveal the damn pricing and pre order info and not the games themselves. Fall's most anticipated game would be who are jumping ship from consoles to PC, now that Nvidia has announced $499 RTX 3070 GPU which is apparently more powerful than RTX 2080TI, whaat?

Alos if you think about it generally this is huge for Sony. For the 3 most anticipated games this fall: one is an exclsuive and the other two sony has marketing rights and playstation advantage due to exclusive content. Jim Ryan is playing hard ball here people.
This whole year is a win for Sony. FF7, TLOU, GOT, SM:MM

4 big exclusives in 1 year.

Pretty strong year for a console. The way Sony does business now with 3rd party exclusive content, whether its early or exclusive altogether, reminds me of early Don's 360 era.

That guy gave no fucks about you if you wasn't an Xbox customer. Early dlc, exclusive content, bought 3rd party games, games launching first on Xbox. People can shit on the guy now, but Xbox was never more successfull than his reign.

To be honest I'm not hyped for any launch exclusives on any of the consoles. I'll probably play the shit out of Cyberpunk 2077 on the PS5 and switch to Hitman 3 at the beginning of 2021.

Cyberpunk videos looks like shitty gameplay on combats.
I'm with you but who is familiar with cd project knows that gameplay is not the reason why people buy their games.

The game is far more ambitious than more of the same cod or cashgrab avengers...

Shitty combat gameplay doesn't mean shitty game. For me RDR2, GTA 5 and some games that i can't mention on GAF without getting lynched by a blue mob have shitty/boring combat gameplay but high ratings.

Yes, doesn't it, but is the reason because the game is not on top 3 for most expected game

Don did not do shit it was peter Moore who secured those deals years before he took over. All Don got accomplished was to sink the ship that Peter moore handed him. It lead to years of budget cuts until 2018. Don was the bad guy in all this he took what Peter Moore built and burned it to the ground.

It's like saying which flavor of ice cream tastes the best in fall. They're two popular IPs. You wouldn't have to play video games to say something like that. Why even pay a firm to make such a statement when you could probably ask any person walking into GameStop or Walmart to buy a video game. This insurgence was probably paid for in advance.

Marvel paying Verizon and various other outlets for Avengers DLC. You can feel the "paid for" attitude. Marvel is a brand that'll reach just about anyone because that's basically been the movie industry.

Where is the hype or hysteria for every other game that gets released? I'm still wondering if I should still share my story with GameStop about The Last of Us because they sent me an email full of crap about sharing my experience with their store employees. This is all a bunch experts in the marketing department making claims based off popular brands.

I have no doubt those games will sell very well. It's such a cheap, easy assumption to make.

I ended up loving Spider-Man on my third attempt to play it, but I'm a little suspicious of Miles Morales.

They aren't showing or talking about it at all - we know it's not a full game, but I'm wondering if it's much smaller than they are comfortable to admit right now? Especially as the fanboys are in full on crow mode about it being the only launch exclusive left on either new console...

Might be quite a meltdown incoming over that one.

"You tell them. I'm not telling them! You tell them!"

Are people really confusing most anticipated with actually good? Regardless of how you feel, the people have spoken, even with a limited pool. Stop acting like snobbish bitches and play the shit most people don't give a shit about and be alledgedly happy

Doubtful. Cyberpunk will be one of the biggest games at launch ever, probably ending up somewhere between The Witcher 3 and GTA 5 in sales.

Amazing marketing by Sony when what is essentially DLC can be tagged as one of the most anticipated games of the year.
It's a standalone game but even if it was just DLC it would be the best launch title we've had in ages

At what rank was Demon Souls Remastered ?
#11 ?

You know I was going to write there a sales canyon between W3 and gta5 but I had no idea W3 sold 28M copies.
I had 15-18 in my mind. This makes me happy.

CP77 selling more than 30M in 5 years is not a tough ask. I mean it shares shooter genre alone could be enough.

Can't take any list seriously that does not have cyberpunk at number 1 or 2. At the end of the day 3 years from now it will out sell all those games so list is bad.
