Ninja Five-O! So good!

djtiesto

is beloved, despite what anyone might say
Finally received this game in the mail today (got it shipped, new, from a company off ebay)... I sadly missed its release window, since I didn't really know much of anything about it. But a bunch of recommendations later, and I decided to give it a try...

I'm glad I did. The gameplay is a combination of Bionic Commando and Shadow Dancer (GEN)... go through the levels, rescuing hostages, swinging with your grappling hook, and using either shuriken or a sword to defeat enemies. Even the enemies duck next to a crate, stand up and fire 3 bullets, then duck again is straight out of Shadow Dancer. Graphics are capable (they get the job done - are rather bright for this type of game), the music is pretty repetitive though.

If you can find this game, and liked the 2 aforemented games, get it... you won't be disappointed!

Yeah I like this game too. Damn hard to find as you said, I'd been looking for it for awhile and stumbled upon it at a Fred Meyer a few months ago.

hell yah, you got that right. they didn't make this game very available and it is one hell of a game. i'd add in a dash of shinobi and rolling thunder in there as well. a superbly executed game that makes me feel like it's better than 50% of all the console games this generation. and omg, it's 2d!! heavens forbid a 2d game be GOOD!!

It's the best 2D Shinobi game that never happened! It's like the lovechild of GG Shinobi and Revenge of Shinobi, with some fantastic wireplay in there.

BTW, this game is known as 'Ninja Cop' here in Europe. Ignore the cheesy title and buy this game! :)

Probably one of the best games most people never played. It's totally badass. Watch out though, it will seriously kick your ass.

If by 50% you mean 95%, I agree.

Kicking myself since it released for not taking the initiative and trying to secure a copy in some fevered manhunt. I let Otogi 2 slip through the cracks as well last year, but got lucky last week and found a new copy for $30.

I need to play this game.

Aww yeah this game rocks. Ninjas are like the best characters of any videogame.

Just picked this up yesterday from GameQuest in the South Bay Pavilion down in Carson, California. That place has the greatest selection of games I've ever seen. If it was made in the last 6 years, they have two of it. Snagged Ninja Five-O and ZotE: Fist of Mars. Haven't had time to play either, but I'm excited to get my ninja on based on the praise here.

Awesome game, and this thread has made me want to play it again. I might just have to.. ;)

For those looking for the game, you can order it new from Amazon Marketplace here for about 30 bucks. Maybe cheaper if you want to look around.

Does this give credit to GAF?

I would like to get this game new and I will glady pay full price for another kickass 2D title.

Stupid Nintendo, killing the 2d goodness of the GBA off for a PDA system. :(

Interesting fact: The DS does not recognize Ninja Five-O as a GBA game. It says it's a "DS Option Pack," whatever that is. Glad I still have my SP.

That's wierd...

Been looking for this for awhile. Might have to bite the bullet and just buy it

My DS recognizes Ninja Five-O just fine. I bet you have a bootleg game.

Unless the bootleggers are packing them in the original shrinkwrapped boxes complete with manuals and the usual "Subscribe to Nintendo Power!!!" inserts, I doubt it.

That's really strange... I'm playing the game on the DS and it works just fine...

I tried again this morning and it loaded up fine. I have no idea what the problem was last night. I turned the DS off and back on three times, re-inserting the game each time, nothing. Put it in and turned it on today, no problem. Very weird.
