i think it's pretty much the best xbox game ever, in any genre.
GOTY for this year is a tough call because it's a re-release, and the basic content is mostly the same. For me, ninja gaiden is more replayable than re4, but as a first time expierience RE4 is probably a little more compelling. God of war is a great game, but it's not as great as NG mainly because of lack of challenge, length and replay value. SOTC sounds like it may be a bit too short with not enough replay value to be seriously considered.

Closest comparison is to Devil May Cry 3, IMO. And tbh DMC3 walks all over Ninja Gaiden, spits on its mother and then pisses on its pet dog
Apart from graphics, DMC3 is the better game in every way. It's probably my favourite GAME of the year (emphasis is on GAME because of the GAMEPLAY)

In all honesty, my experience with Ninja Gaiden Black has completely kicked the crap out of my time with the original.
I couldn't tell you why; I was on Normal for both. Actually finished Black, though.
Plus, the differences between each difficulty have surprised me. I'm already a step or two into Hard, something I've never done with any other game.

I think it may be Xbox GOTY. It's definitely a beautiful and well-crafted game. I was hooked for a week solid until SotC hit.
