Nintendo is someone who's been told that alcohol is great for years and went "Naa". Then tried it and became an alcoholic. not realising the destruction they're leaving.

This seems like a very reasonable read on the situation. Yes, there is absolutely no hyperbole or overreaction here. Definitely not.

"Useful items" obviously can't be too useful since the game isn't designed to need them to beat it. So then they are useful as in beneficial to general gameplay mechanics, and so should have been in already.

"New map feature" the same thing. Either it is not worth paying for, or it is a good design idea they intentionally withheld from base game owners.

Hard mode... really?

Extra challenges and dungeons, a little story... alright that's standard and fair play. You want extra tasks other than free-roam world play, pay for extra.

Christ almightly that's a leap in logic if I ever did see one. Yes, there's no difference between peoples reactions to DLC announced 3~4 months after launch (like mario kart) which is clearly described and everyone understood what "16 new tracks and 6 new characters plus some kart parts" was from the get go, and all for £11. "Oh and everyone gets 200cc for free".

Yes, I can't even begin to spot the difference between the unclear offerings here (people can't even agree on what the heck "hard mode" means) and what they gave for mario kart, for significantly less to boot.
Methinks your logic is broken. I was responding to someone who was saying Nintendo was the last bastion against season passes left standing, which clearly they haven't been for the last three years. No leap of logic here. If anything introducing arbitrary quantifiers in days of when a season pass is allowed to be mentioned is a leap of logic. If you're upset that Nintendo may have cut important content to peddle out later then fair enough, we should all be wary of these practices, but I'd say there's nothing so far that has indicated anything in this direction. But even then I'd say getting really upset about this in this day and age (do you even buy any games anymore?) bespeaks a similar hyperbole with which you felt the need to reply to my post.

My logic is fine. Public reaction to a season pass is generally more negative when it's announced before the game is out. This is practically always true. Not explaining well enough what your season pass has to avoid ambiguity also causes people to be more annoyed/confused about what you're trying to sell.

Like, these are almost objective facts at this point, and it's a mistake to announce it beforehand if it's months from release anyway.

"Do I even buy games any more?". And what does asking that even have to do with anything other than trying to bait an angry response? Because you have to know that's a dumb thing to ask a lot of people in neogaf of all places.

I don't understand this lame attempt to make light of my suggestion. Verizon is an American only ISP. The Switch and Joycons are representative of Nintendo's brand new system which most people will be buying to play Zelda on. My idea would be cute. Your idea is stupid! Poo poo!

I actually thought the idea was cute. I mean, Nintendo hardware being Zeldafied in the games isn't even out of place. Tingle Tuners were based on the GBA and GameBoy, We've had an island literally in the shape of a DS (and a concept for a GameCube shaped island), and the Sheikah tablet was clearly GamePad inspired.

Best thing to have done would be putting everything in one pack and calling it an expansion pack. Also hard mode should be a free update.

It kinda is one pack though. It's just that they want your money ASAP so they offer some minor things at launch and some bigger-ish things in summer and the biggest things at Holiday season.

Also yes, Hard Mode has no place in there. Unless Hard Mode means more than we think. But I wouldn't bet on it.

Pretty much. 👍

Can't wait to see if there's any other microtransactions in the game we have yet to know about.

I bet you need to pay for the best weapons in the game.

Come on now...Nintendo announces a season pass. Whats so bad about it? Can people stop crying for a second and start thinking? They want you to play the game as lomg as possible and instead of doing the next game and let people wait for 5 more years the update the last game. Its nothing bad...

Edit: The ignorance of some people here hurts my brain. There are people here who shit on this season pass because it is from Nintendo and nothing else.

Bill Trinen was interviewed for IGN's Nintendo Voice Chat. I haven't watched it yet, does anyone know if he clarifies or provides more information about the DLC?
