Nintendo Autsralia Connection Tour - Mario 20th Anniversary Edition

Did a search, can't find it, I'll cry for hours if it's old:

http://mario20th.nintendo.com.au/

Basically this is like the mall promotions they did when Mario Kart DS came out, but featuring New Super Mario Bros. Did anyone from the Victrorian events go?

I'll be "doing" the Sunday event (tomorrow!) at Indooroopilly...hopefully win something this time around! Anyone else going? The Hyperdome event is way closer to where I live but it's on a work day, stupid school holidays :/

doh, on sunday each fortnight i play lawn bowling with my mates, which happens to be tomorrow :/

I actually went down to the shops last week to compete, only to realise it was in fact occuring in July, not June.

I was all set to own some 12 year olds as well, but self-owned myself instead :(
Still, gives me more time to practice :)

which one are you going too?

Where's Autsralia?

I missed the Victorian ones, unfortunately. Apparently there was some guy with a NES controller/Zapper belt at one of the events. Couldn't imagine some of the other hardcore fans that'll show up at the other venues.

Which bowls club do you play at Scrow? You might see me every 2nd weekend working :lol

Yeah I'll be at the Garden City WA one too, stealth advertising for my website with 300 Nintendo Fanboys should be great. :lol

Plus me and the_androgene can see who is better at MK

20th Anniversary? We already celebrated his 22nd.
Yeah but PAL calendars run 17% slower than NTSC ones, so...

Well, I went today, and the contest portion of it pretty much sucked. Everyone who registered got given a number and then the numbers were called out to play on the main stage in a head to head competition. The last time they did this it was for Mario Kart DS and everyone got to play pretty quickly, but since New Super Mario Bros only as a two player mode it took 3 HOURS for me to get from the lineup to beating some random kid into the ground. Someone had ****ed up the default controls on Player 1's machine, and nobody had noticed. Then the winners of each round (there were a lot of them, most of them having used Player 2) were told they had to play Mario Kart DS for the next round.

I waited 3 hours (and I got there almost an hour early toget a "low" number) to play Mario Kart DS? Why wasn't Mario Kart DS used for the first round of competition, making it a quick way to get through the numbers? That, and coupled with the appalling lag you had to suffer through thanks to the network congestion making playing either NSMB or Mario Kart virtually impossible, made the contest portion really frustrating.

They had a working NES playing Super Mario Bros, though. I've never seen a working NES before. I thought they were just a myth. My wife and I had fun playing Super Mario Kart, and I had to convince her that yeah, that's what the game really did look like back then and we didn't know any better :)

So, in summary, rumours of Nintendo Australia not sucking any more are greatly exaggerated.

Hey Red Dolphin that guy is a member on my forums :lol Yep typical Nintendo fans

I meant no disrespect... my comment was definite sarcasm. A decent looking well built bloke is obviously NOT the sterotypical Nintendo fan heheh. I'll have to see if I can meet up with you and the androgyne at Garden City.

Do you have Tetris DS btw? Can you PM your Friend Code my way if you want to play some time. I would like to play some more Perth ppl :)

lol yeah no worries, no warm :P

My Friend code is 271038 259210, but im not on much but yeah there is a few Perth Gaffers on here, not sure of all of them though.

They still have a way to go but you got to start somewhere.

I was thinking about going but in the end I was too tired and didn't think that the effort required on my part would be worth it since I had a late night at a friend's birthday.
Glad to hear I didn't miss out on too much.

I should also mention the party I was at had me dress up as Bob of bubble bobble fame since it was fancy dress anything starting with b or d (Walshey was Bub) I was wanting to go as a Blue man but sadly it was deemed too messy.

I am planning to go to the one in Erina Fair in NSW. Hopefully they would fix up the competition format by then... 2 weeks to go!

Were there any goodies at the event?
