Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Will Be a Paid Tour of Your New Nintendo Switch 2

Was also surprised to hear it's paid but let's see how feature-rich it is and how much it ends up costing.

I know people keep mentioning Astro, and fairly so.

But like, what is this game they are making you buy? its barely a game and quite literally like tech demos.

Honestly this whole S2 announcement and direct has been so strange the longer I sit on it. Like the wheelchair basketball game, it's so off-brand Nintendo.

should definitely be free, odd choice that I expect to see reversed later, perhaps by holiday season

the aesthetic look nice btw, a lot like the Labo informational screens and diagrams

Nintendo is pretty off their rocker with this one. Given that that they're offering Gamecube games on NSO for Switch 2 it'd be crazy if Switch 2 ended up being another Gamecube for them.

Somebody needs to give Nintendo a tour of WiiU to remind them what happens when they fuck around and find out

I was astonished when I saw that, meanwhile Sony is offering for free the awesome Astrobot Playroom for showcase the PS5 and Nintendo make you paid for... "this".

What a joke. They are so cheap on this.

I couldn't believe my ears when I heard it'll be paid. I'd want to get paid to play it. It's basically a marketing and tutorial software for the Switch 2.

Launches same day as Switch 2.
Yeah, charging for this is a dumb move. No shade on the devs who put time and effort into it, but this is obviously just a literal showcase of the Switch 2 hardware, it's insane they think people will pay money for it.

This is the typical app that games bundled with the system, just like Sony did with astro, or valve with the steam deck mini game (don't remember the game) but Nintendo is losing their mind and want to milk their customers to infinity and beyond

Maybe there are a bunch of minigames that demonstrate the controller and the whole system? The Nintendo rep guy said something about this is me in the game, and was running around as a player controlled character. It could be like Nintendoland, which was both game and tutorial for the Wii U features.

I honestly have to stop myself from laughing every time I'm reminded of this. Funniest announcement of the Direct. The sheer audacity of Nintendo to charge for a tutorial tech demo. It's like a joke you'd make about the company.

It's silly, because it could have been a useful introduction to their new hardware gimmicks, but now next to no one will use it because it's just not the sort of thing anyone expects to pay money for, but, honestly, I can't even be mad. It's so funny.

Anything above $4.99 for this garbage would be an insult, not that any price at all isn't an insult already.

Even if it was $.99, on principle I wouldn't buy it.

I can't imagine that this started with the idea of it being a paid game. It'll be super interesting to see what it'll cost and the reviews.

No thanks, I'll just boot the thing up and fuck around with it until I've got the hang of things or maybe just open the booklet that comes with the console and read. They're taking the piss asking for people to pay for this.

Greedy nintendo is back
When was Nintendo not greedy?

During the anti-3rd party NES era? The $70 cartridge N64 era? Through their never-sale history? $80 joycon insta-drift bullshit? Excessive use of DMCA takedowns?

While I have a soft spot for the SNES, Nintendo has been nasty company for a LONG time. Fans have just looked the other way.

In the time it takes you to watch a 25 minute video convincing you to spend ten dollars on welcome tour, you could just read everything the tour shows you on the Internet.

Looks like the Switch 2 is the map you navigate. There are gates you have to unlock to proceed further. The screen is a giant ice field your avatar can skate around on.

Theyre calling them tech demos, and not minigames, though. Value depends on how much game there is in the demos. I didnt know you could play with dual mice. As usual, only Nintendo will actually do anything with it.
