Nintendo is grabbing all the tweets right now

For Wii U only owners thist must have been a horrible direct. Nothing new and exciting, just stuff we already know about... not even a remake of a beloved game they get...

It's kind of funny to be saying this, but the Wii U needs more GameCube/Wii remakes. They need content more than anything. Now's the perfect time to dig into the back catalog, even though they would be criticized for it.

Zelda, Star Fox and most likely an English language release of Xenoblade X are all 2016. I'm willing to bet on it. At least, 2016 for Europe (as that is what matters to me). I have no faith in Nintendo getting any of them out in time here.

I'm still betting the farm on Zelda U coming out by Christmas 2015.

:lol Every time you think the Wii U couldn't possibly become worse, they manage to pull this shit off regardless... With these vague ass release dates and the abscence of most E3 content for a spring Direct, another year of droughts is basically confirmed. I expect silence on Mario Maker until it is reintroduced as the 2015 holiday title. And if it wasn't clear enough, there's no way something like Zelda is gonna come out before 2016.
So much for 1 game per month, lol. Not that I ever believed it, but it's still amusing.

I love how unpredictable your posts are.

No way. They will have either Zelda or X out by the close of 2015. They need a big holiday title. Nintendo will throw extra staff on either one if they have to.

it's fucking crazy to me that people were expecting Zelda and Star Fox. Star Fox was a barebones demo at E3 without even a developer attached - why would they have something meaningful to show like 4 months later?

And Zelda doesn't have a chance of coming early 2015 and is pretty obviously a big blowout E3 title. Expecting anything sooner is nuts.

To be fair, this was the first general direct since Zelda was announced, and it's the first mainline Zelda game to be released well into the direct period of Nintendo's history, so I'm sure some people were at least expecting a little update or something (I really wasn't just hopeful that it might happen like some rare fluke), really I'm not bummed that it wasn't there though, I'm bummed that games like Yoshi and Mario Maker weren't there as I now fear they might get delayed, meaning another dry start to the year.

*Nintendo unveils the Wii U Game Pad, and talks about the interesting gameplay uses you can get out of it*

*Fatal Frame V is released, that utilizes the Wii U Game Pad is those unique ways, with an established fan-base in NA*

*Nintendo refuses to localize Fatal Frame V for those NA fans*

-_-

Totally forgot about Fatal Frame. Yeah, that's pretty damn weak.

Interesting that Project STEAM seems to be taking a bunch of literary characters - Oz, Peter Pan, Tom Sawyer. That and historical figures. I love that sort of thing so it's upped my interest level by a lot.

I'm excited for everything. Shit.... Balancing MCC with some new MK8 dlc for cool-down sessions. So hype.

My gf is gonna go ape-shit when I tell her about MM3D. Will be my first time playing it on her 3DS. Can't wait.

Also, Splatoon. Damn. So good.

Anybody know when the archive will be up?

Please stop...you're just mad because you didn't got your Zelda U teaser. Calm down, it was a really good Direct. With my 3DS and Wii U I got plenty of games to play.

Europe here, eh direct. What I expected really. Maybe having MM3D at the end would have been a better take away and a big surprise.

The other surprises of "ho ho ho we're not telling you Shovel Knight is out even though we already did and now you think its not and here it is again" and "Ultimate NES rip-off is out on the eShop still a rip-off*" were not appreciated.

*-£35 for a game that costs $30 in America or £18 for a more complete version on the Wii U eShop is a rip-off.

Disappointing nothing from Wooly World other than confirming that amibos would work for it

Other than that Majora's Mask and Duck Hunt made the direct.

Man I am so bummed for not having any information on the (at least) release window for Xenoblade. I know Zelda won't make it next year but I was hoping that Xenoblade was a little bit closer than what it seems to be. Hire everyone available for the localization!!

Figure another direct in December like last year?

Exactly or Jan like 2013

But let the crying babies keep asking where is Zelda, Star Fox, SMTxFE, Yoshi, Mario Maker, Devils Third

We know its a lot coming, Nintendo doesnt want to show everything at once, calm down people none of these games coming out tomorrow its plenty of time to see them

Only real dissapointment I have is amiibos, though I suppose its not new info,I was hoping they would do something new and interesting with the tech. But I guess all it really does is unlock DLC stuff. And doesnt really provide any new gameplay oppurtunities.

I knew it, I called it around E3. This Picture might as well be a tech demo (or maybe it was already announced that it was)

This game probably was only started not even a year ago.

pretty sure that it was.

Yup. Sigh, I hope another publisher will pick it up then.

NOW its hitting people eh? Heh heh, they pretty much did the exact same thing the past few directs (show the same games we knew were coming over and over again until E3) and people were okay with it back then, they are only doing what they have been doing fo a long time now.

stop trolling dude, they were never gonna show Zelda, and X is coming prob Summer

IF thats all you want sell your wiiu then

im not a troll, I love Nintendo, I love my Wii U there just isnt enough to have one for the next 12-16 months for me. I will go with my 3ds and keep that for the time being.

Time to check my scorecard. Notes in italicized brackets:

So tomorrow I expect:
- One last character trailer for Smash
- One last push for OR/AS and Captain Toad, with possible demos (given that an OR/AS demo already exists in limited release)
- A push for the first two waves of Amiibo and details about integration with games that are not Smash
- Dates and details for upcoming Mario Kart and Hyrule Warriors DLC [Amiibo compatibility but no date for Hyrule Warriors]
- A reminder about Ultimate NES Remix and NES Remix Pack
- A reminder about holiday Wii U bundles (e.g. the 3DW + Nintendo Land bundle in NA)
- Upcoming Virtual Console releases, likely including DKC for NA [Duck Hunt]
- At least one unannounced eShop surprise available between now and January
- February/March release date for one or both of Yoshi's Woolly World and Mario Maker
- February/March release date for Monster Hunter 4 [no date; just Mario and Luigi rodents]
- New features (e.g. local multiplayer or single-player) detailed for Splatoon, with no specific release date
- Xenoblade X confirmed for the first half of 2015, with no specific date (it would surprise me, but the Soraya Saga RT instills confidence) [still undated; expect it in August-October]

The list above could easily fill half an hour.

Outside bets (pick one or two):
- Full release plan for Art Academy Wii U, including pricing for people with the existing sketchpad software
- Yokai Watch localization officially announced
- Code Name: STEAM confirmed for the first half of 2015 (or the first-party 3DS calendar will look very blank)
- Kirby and the Rainbow Curse confirmed for the first half of 2015
- January release date for Mario vs. Donkey Kong
- One unannounced full-priced retail game (for either system) with no release date in sight [Majora's Mask, dated for Spring]
- Fatal Frame localization confirmed
- N64 Virtual Console announced, with an initial offering of no more than three titles and a pricing/upgrade plan

Not happening: [5/5 correct]
- Any mention of the New 3DS or the Xenoblade port in NA/EU
- Information about SSB4 DLC
- Any acknowledgement of SMTxFE
- Any acknowledgement of Watch Dogs (really, why bother)
- Star Fox trailer (Zelda is an extreme long shot, but I really do not expect Star Fox)

This was the NA stream, by the way.

So nothing really caught me off guard: as I thought, Xenoblade X is not confirmed for the first half of 2015, Splatoon is taking Mario Kart 8's Q2 slot, and Kirby is the February game rather than Yoshi. Also, with both Majora's Mask and STEAM dated for the Spring, the first-party 3DS catalogue is completely accounted for between now and next E3. We can expect a New 3DS push by then, of course.

I didn't guess the Persona Q special edition 3DS or that the demo released today would be Sonic Boom 3DS, but I wasn't paying much attention to third parties. I missed the Pikmin animated films and demo, though we knew about those in advance and they were not hard to guess. Duck Hunt for the VC is something we should have seen coming when the last Smash trailer was saved for this Direct.

Conspicuous absences: OR/AS, NES Remix Pack, Yoshi's Woolly World (apart from a mention of Amiibo support), Mario Maker.

From what was and wasn't announced today, I think we can expect the next Direct in late January or early February. Then we will presumably hear a specific date for Kirby, a rough release window and Amiibo details for Yoshi and Mario Maker if they are still on track, an NA/EU release plan for the New 3DS that will be dated in conjunction with Monster Hunter 4, more 3DS localizations (think Yo-Kai Watch, Bravely Second, or FF Explorers), a possible third wave of Amiibo figures, and at least one teaser for something very far off like Zelda or a new major first-party title we haven't heard about yet.

Also, let me just say that Splatoon looks incredible. I wasn't fully interested in it when it was just an online multiplayer game, as my Internet connection is spotty and I don't play online very much, but the variety of mechanics on display in the latest trailer has sent it shooting up my shopping list.

Good Direct, a final bomb would have been perfect and maybe all that talk about pikmin shorts was too much.

Blue X>red X

DAT BOXART OMG

The only thing that would have made that boxart better is if Link was holding the FD mask instead of the mask of truth.

Those amiibo functions they showed off were not very good at all...

Edit: Also I'm annoyed with no Yoshi's Wooly World aside from what will likely be terrible amiibo functionality.

Wow, that was a great direct. So much new information to go over :) Splatoon looks way more fleshed out, Mario Kart DLC, XCX is looking terrific, MAJORAS MASK 3D!

Saved the day, because without it... people would have been SALTY as hell.

I'm still salty about no star fox mention, I mean yeah its not going to be a 2015 release but it deserved a mention.

Where can I watch this, I missed some of it. God damn, it shouldn't be this hard to find. I really hate the Internet sometimes.

I have similar feelings as well. To me it looks like Nintendo will be stretching these games out for awhile. Yoshi seemed like it was gonna be out sooner rather than later, now it doesn't get shown at all? I mean right now, we have two first party Wii U games in the first half of 2015. Just like the first half of 2014. Pretty unacceptable with no third party support to speak of. So basically two games to buy in 6 months, and if you aren't interested in those, tough luck.

Can't shake the feeling that Nintendo is holding back software, stretching out software releases because they know the console is dead, just biding their time until a 2016 new box with Zelda as it's launch title.

To top it off though, now 3DS lineup is looking very slim for the first 6 months, and we might not even be getting N3DS until the second half of 2015. Maybe even a holiday release. If this happens it would seem as if we won't get an actual new handheld until 2017, with Wii U being replaced before 3DS in 2016.
