So looking at the Launch Lineup what is Nintendo hoping is pulling people in? Name only? NintendoLand? It's not like they have a Wii-Sports that perfectly demonstrates the advantages of the system. Man they screwed up so bad this conference. I honestly can't believe someone looked at their presser and thought "Yeah this is great!"
I disagree man. Why are people opting for a $300 system over the 3DS sequel on a system they already have?
Pikmin 3 still looked great gameplay wise, but so much for those "sub-Claymation model quality" fantasies a few had.
He posted some "REDEMPTION" post (2 u-pads, which who didn't see coming) and then went on meltdown-control for awhile before giving up I guess.
Nintendo's conference is a kick in the face of gaming. Not only was everything they showed rehashes of games we already have played, it also looked like shit in the graphics department... I didn't see any reason to buy that gimmick console.

Peter Moore just basically confirmed on Spike no EA Sports for launch, but they are working on Wii U games.
Just inexcusable for Nintendo really- even Wii had Madden as a launch game.
Too bad it comes at the cost of cutting FPS in half
Maybe Nintendo's plan to avoid the 3DS launch situation was not to have a ton of games, but just outright admit they've got sweet fuck all instead of pretending otherwise.
So I can't be the only one who thinks the Wii U's launch actually looks better than the Wii's, right?
The entire thing is just mind-boggling. They had all the cards in their hands. They could've just shown off three good, new announcements and been declared the indisputable winners of E3. I'm sure they have them! I'm sure their studios are working on Wii U games, and they're not all like Nintendoland and Wii Fit U!
Is Nintendo World a pack-in game?
To me, this just screams that Nintendo didn't do a good enough job of either:
A) Getting the dev kits int the hands of developers as soon as they should have
or
B) Telling third parties what to really expect with the system itself
Mario in the WII/DS Gen
2 original 3d Platformers.
2 original 2d platformers.
WiiU/ 3DS Gen
1 original 3D platformer
2 original 2D platformers
Mainline Mario games are actually pretty rare and certainly not oversaturated.
Comparing that to the yearly Call of Duty reskins is disingenuous at best.
Ditto to Zelda or pretty much any big nintendo franchise.
I am a fan of Nintendo and Sony. I generally dislike MS. That said, both Nintendo and Sony botched their opportunities this E3. I'll go so far as to say that they have each foreshadowed significant reasons to be concerned for both of them. And that's remarkable considering MS basically sat on its ass and played with its thumbs for an hour.
What say you now? All the nintendo fanboys gave such a hard time in the WUST thread about how nintendo needed third party support, UE4, and called me pessimistic and bitter about nintendo in general.
God. TheGreatMightPoo is probably hanging himself at the moment...
Oh arg. Sorry. Next-gen from Nintendo?
Pikmin 3 looked nice but that was the best thing shown. 3rd Party stuff looked no better but its tough to judge from the show footage.
Is Nintendo World a pack-in game?
5-player family coop.

I found that whole thing confusing, at times it sounded like it's an online thing, then a pack in, then preloaded software, then retail. I hope someone can clarify this.
Yes.
It was from that image. I know its zoomed in onto the Pikmins.
But even in the other screens, the textures arent really... crisp.
I got my GBA games aaaages ago. Seriously, I cannot even begin to understand how there was not one bomb to be dropped.

PSY・S;38567156 said:Damn. Disappointing. I've been waiting for Pikmin 3 forever but that alone won't make the Wii U too appealing for some time.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around how this happened.
How do you launch a console with no games?
How do you spend a section of your conference talking about a game that released last year on everyone else's console?
How do you take a year of absolute silence to prepare for a big rereveal after the disappointing initial announcement, and then show the exact same things you showed last year? Especially when studios like Retro and Monolith have surely been working on something for 2 years now.
How do you put absolutely no effort into combatting the rumors that your system is severely underpowered? Just one stage demo of a graphically impressive, Wii U exclusive game. That's it. That's all you needed to do.

Not for the stated intention of the system, it's not.
Aren't mom and dad only springing for that if they can be sold on the casual value and I might be totally naive but is Wii-Fit really going to work 2nd time around. There just doesn't seem enough differentiation between the two consoles for most parents that already have the Wii and their kids begging for Wii-U
2004 was a great show. Birth of "My name is Reggie...", trailers for Prime 2, Star Fox and RE4 right out of the gate, DS reveal, Revolution name-drop by Iwata and then the Zelda trailer. Probably the best show they've ever done.
that being said, apart from 2006, nintendo and other companies really didn't have a show stopping e3 appearance. glimpses of that magic was at the beginning with pikmins running and following shigeru, but that was it. Sony conference had nothing and the only thing revealing for MS presser was entertainment content. The games just isn't there anymore because the internet have gotten to this point where you just can't avoid leaks and these companies says fuck it. I mean, Look at the music and movie industries.
Just about everything at the pressers was leaked before the show. That e3 as you know it where games getting revealed and megatons dropping is dead.
The only thing that keeps watchdogs appealing to us is that no one knew about it. If information were revealed by leaks a day before, the impact wouldn't be there and it wouldn't be getting game of the galaxy by most gaffers. I missed those days where the final fantasy 13 betrayaltons would nuke gaf to oblivion, and when a true megaton like smash bros would appear out of the fucking blue....those days are over. We mostly know 99 percent of games coming out before they are even considered to be leaked.![]()
Next-gen needs to come quickly. All 3 failing to utterly impress seems to be a sign that people are getting tired of the same old military shooters, sports games and Mario over and over.

To be fair, they don't really need third party support to succeed. The Wii showed us that.
We still have no clue on whether they'll "need" UE4, either.
You do have every right to be pessimistic and bitter about Nintendo.[/QUOTE]
Always have. And always will. God, I wish I had Ace's phone number just to rub it in. And Poo's too. Then cry myself to sleep afterwards. I was so ready to buy this thing day one. Now Pokemon Black and White 2 is my most anticipated title of teh year.
But they utterly botched this, and they seem to have utterly botched their relationships with every third party save Ubisoft and WBIE.
Lots of misplaced resources, and I think Nintendo has wore down and Japanese development in general has slowed to a crawl falling behind regional rivals.
They have to infuse more resources into handheld games now with 3D models than they've had to in the past when they were just making mostly 2D games, so that's not helping their console side.
It really feels like the past two years NCL has done nothing. They sunk all kinds of resources though into Skyward Sword - the problem being the Wii was essentially dead when it came out, so it was horrific timing.
They have their Smash Bros. development lead waiting to finish a 3DS title that has a cult audience at best with a maligned control scheme.
Meanwhile, they're having huge losses, so at the same time they need Mario to bail them out of hard times. So the easiest thing to do? Make a cut and paste derivative Mario game based off of whats already there. So you get the third and fourth versions of New Super Mario Bros coming this year to handheld and console to try to bail them out. Then you have the much rumored Pikmin 3 that's been stewing for a decade now, FINALLY come out, as a game you can tell was built up from the Wii and transferred over.
Horribly, horribly mismanaged company right now. No one had the foresight to move things with the Wii U along earlier and plan development around it. Instead they sunk heavy resources into a dead system and tied up huge franchises waiting for team leads to finish fringe handheld games. What the fuck is going on?
Pretty much. I am still a bit shocked how they managed to pass up a perfect opportunity after MS and Sony showed pretty much nothing.
Yep. No pricing info either. A huge disappointment.
They didn't announce anything that wasn't announced last year. All they did was show games they said were in development.
It really should be, but based on the seemingly too-flashy hub, I doubt it. That'd be really sad because this would make an absolutely great pack-in. Has all the appeal and messaging of Wii Sports but looks 50x more impressive.
