Nintendo E3 plans detailed

that direct was so bad holy shit...

Well, it was bad mainly because:
1. People was overhyped after the 2014 Digital Event, which showed 1+ year of Wii U games
2. People didn't listen to Nintendo, when they said they would focus on 2015 and early 2016 games.
3. People were underwhelmed with the new 2015 titles.

#1 and #3 will perhaps not be repeated this year, but #2 is happening.

Not trying to hype myself up too much after the WOAT E3 2015
This year can't be any worse since they are showing Mario Odyssey in depth unless it's really bad
but we know that can't happen. EAD Tokyo "or EPD now" are magicians and it will be a GotG material :p

Wii U was a dead meat at that time and Nin fans should acknowledged and accepted that. After releasing SSB4 WiiU, there were some rumors about Nintendo moving their major Wii U projects to their next console but no one gave a shit about it IIRC. Many believed they will continue supporting Wii U after 2014 with their big hits but BotW was the biggest thing Wii U had since 2014.

Both Splatoon and Mario Maker were bigger than BotW on the Wii U, and both those games were released during 2015. Splatoon was released just a few weeks before E3 2015, and Mario Maker was released a couple of months after E3. Yoshi's Woolly World was also released just after E3 2015.

In that context, I don't think it was unreasonable for Wii U users to expect something substantial and new at E3 2015.

I totally forgot about splatoon being a 2015 game lol. Anyway, Both Splatoon and Mario Maker were bigger than BotW on the Wii U? You mean in terms of sales, right ? Because BotW is the "biggest" and the most expensive title for Nintendo in terms of budget and costs. Neither Mario maker nor Splatoon costed Nintendo as much for sure. That's what I was referring to as "big title" but maybe my description wasn't accurate enough in my previous post. And of course, Mario Maker and Splatoon are major titles for Wii U.

Yes, I meant in terms of attach rate/sales. Financially, BotW is probably the most expensive game they have ever done in terms of development costs. Splatoon is probably the game that gave them the biggest unexpected profit.

or only one

they showed a bunch of medicore games that looked lazy, with reused art assets and stuff like ultimative fan disservice with metroid

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

however i dont expect this this year

Tri Force Heroes and Happy Home Designer are probably what you were referring to, but Xenoblade X, TMS, Wooly World, and Mario Maker (Star Fox was mediocre, but clearly weren't reused assets)?

E3 2015 didn't show Zelda, but instead relied on Star Fox Zero, which looked like a visually underwhelming retread of SF64 (even though I ended up loving it).

This year will have SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY, which is already a huge leap over E3 2015.

This year will also have Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Fire Emblem Warriors, which I find more interesting than Federation Force and Tri Force Heroes.

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle... Well, I'm intrigued to see it, lol.

If Pokemon Stars and Super Smash Bros are shown, this will already be light years ahead of 2015.

Also, no matter what happens... ARMS comes out at the end of E3. And it looks awesome!

All you said was "showed". I'm telling you what they showed.

Simple as that.

ok then

nintendo showed a bunch of stuff that we already seen (for example xenoblade, which was revealed in 2013) and then a lot of medicore and lazy stuff to wrap it up

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i hope this is more to your satisfaction

I don't get why even bring up 2015 when you already know that's one of the worst E3's from Nintendo and that's not going to happen this year.

3 weeks to go!

Perhaps we'll get some updates on e3.nintendo.com this week. Further details about Nintendo’s activities at E3, including information about the tournaments, will be shared closer to the event, as stated in the press release.

Let's be fair, they cannot do it worse than 2015. It's impossible to make such horrible E3. And a new console was released this year, this E3 should be huge.

As long as we don't see anything like Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival, Triforce Heroes, Federation Force, plus other lazy and cheap stuff, we should be satisfied.

All abroad that train you all know about!!

Oh, I wouldn't personally bet on them doing MP4 either. Just saying that specific report was dubious.

Ah gotcha. He's been more dubious than not lol.

I don't see how AC is too soon. I'd also argue it's likely coming sooner rather than later to try and benefit from the upcoming mobile title

I agree with this. I can see AC for Switch being revealed with that mobile app coming. I mean the Splatoon guys haven't only been working on Splatoon 2 this whole time.

What are the chances of Nintendo announcing the Virtual Console at E3 with a "Out now!" kind of thing?

I say very low chance, but I would absolutely love if they did that. I still don't think it's 100% VC get announced at E3. I could see them saving it for a later Direct.

Do we think the Nintendo Spotlight will have a styling a la Robot Chicken or Muppets of years past? I think straight up animation would be next on the docket, they could have an anime styling or pair with something like Rick & Morty (toned down of course)

IMO, AC could have been in development for Wii U in early 2015, but then the decision was made to push that and other titles to the next console, and then AC: amiibo festival was created as a quick 2015 fix, using the same assets.

Personal Bet: All segments separated by Mega64 micro-sketches.

i think that too

also was there not a rumor arround for quite long time for a AC on wiiu?

It's the same Producer (production group) but different core teams. The Animal Crossing team has been juggling that 3DS update, the mobile, and Switch project. That's a lot of projects.

I would have thought they only sent someone to supervise the mobile app, considering they both have their own mobile division and DeNA assisting.

Even that had good moments. The Nintendo World Championships and sudden Earthbound Zero release were awesome. They just lost all momentum when it came to the actual event.

It would be nice but I don't think they'll have those types of skits this year. Based on the past couple Directs and the January conference they seem a bit more down to business. Though I'd love to be wrong.

I think the ultimate move would be to hire Chris Tucker (and maybe even Bruce Willis) to recreate the Fifth Element gif with rapid fire announcements. But that will never happen.

Would be really disapointing if AC Switch uses amiibo festival assets since this game is basically using New Leaf assets with better textures ans shaders. The switch can do so much better.

So far Miitomo, Super Mario Run, and Fire Emblem were developed inhouse by their respective teams - DeNa providing most of the server / backend stuff. But as Nintendo promised - they were developed inhouse. Nintendo's mobile group is an additional production group that works with the individual game production group and DeNA.

So AC should absolutely be developed by the AC team.

True..even if they only showed announced content..it would be better than 2015.

...but it will be a letdown if we don't get at least a couple of big new Switch games announced.

AC is most definitely coming to Switch in 2018. Whether or not we'll see it at E3 remains to be seen. The console will be sold out this holiday regardless, so maybe it's a better idea to hold onto that announcement.

That's a good list! I think the only thing I personally would add is some traditional local-player family/party game to the "Probable" list. I don't think they will go into the first Switch holiday season without such game.

I don't know what I want to see from Nintendo this E3. Just bought a Switch yesterday, so I've already decided to get Splatoon 2, but other than that, I would like for a Pokémon Stars announcement this Fall. Animal Crossing isn't likely but would be a big announcement for me.

I couldn't see myself play anything else on it this year. Couldn't get into any of Mario Galaxy, Land/World, Xenoblades X3D, Moussous or even MH4, so obviously I probably won't be there for their sequels. But I'll be fine if nothing for me comes out this Fall.

I forget who but there was an insider a while back saying he heard there will be a game at Nintendo's E3 announced that will create a thread for the archives. FFVIIR seemed like the obvious candidate but it doesn't make much sense if it's still a ways away and has timed exclusivity on PS4 anyway.

What else could fill that role? Something on the level of Bayonetta? Dark Souls 4 exclusive to Switch (obviously not happening)?

I can't believe it's so soon, I haven't been keeping track of time.

The one game that keeps coming to my head that Oregen said would "create a thread for the archives" was a famous RPG back on the SNES lol. You know the one that was called III, but really it was VI!

*wink wink*

Funny you mention that - wasn't there a rumour that From was toying with the idea of putting the complete trilogy on Switch after they were able to get it up and running? They WERE on that big third party image that Nintendo showed at the initial Switch conference....
