Mario advanced has more sales... just that ruby made more cash.

Which is all that matters and obviously how I'm sorting the chart.

Classics Line total: 634,937 / $12,005,071

Pokemon is just a fad I tell you!!

I love those games...except Pokemon Snap and Stadium 1 and 2. If only I could just erase those from my memory.

Weird that Ruby sold over 200 000 more than Saffire (even though they're pretty much the same thing)... is there any reason for this beyond name/colour of box it comes in?

Maybe I was expecting too much, but the GBA software sales in general seem a bit slack, even for U.S.-only numbers.

In my case, it's because I bought Red for the GB. Ruby outsold Sapphire in Japan too although the Sapphire-specific Pokémon is better interestingly enough.

Total Pokémon RuSa sales: 4,099,927 / $129,683,244

Actually, Sapphire outsold Ruby in Japan according to the old Dengeki charts. And on this week's Media Create, Sapphire's ahead (and right behind Leaf Green).

32 GBA ポケットモンスター リーフグリーン(ワイヤレスアダプタ同梱) RPG ポケモン 040129 \5,040

Interesting -- I coulda sworn that Ruby had outsold it there as well.

Yeah, I remember seeing one of those top 100 lists for GBA with Ruby on top, but it had Sapphire's numbers I think.

Fire red Outsold leaf green at or nearly 2:1 on pre-orders at our store. I really think it has a lot to do with peoples favorite color. Red vs Blue have a lot more parity when it comes to color preference than red and green, I guess

I bought sapphire because I thought the Ruby's box monster was stupid looking. I will eventually pick up green simply because it seems to be less popular than red.

Generally speaking, Blastoise and Charizard are even in terms of popularity, which is why Charizard is whopping on Venusaur - as what happened in Japan. In the U.S., Blastoise beat Charizard.

The combined sales of Fire Emblem (GBA) make it the 2nd best selling Fire Emblem game to date, so now Nintendo definately has no excuse to not bring out future installments of the serise here. Too bad they won't make remakes of the SNES titles.. :(

I wish they would. FE III has FE already remade plus an extra game (which would be III- at least that's from what I remember reading about it). FE IV is supposed to be the best in the series, and then FE V is arguably the hardest. Would love to see a remade (doesn't even have to look fully upgraded, just nicely redone 2D graphics) FE compilation of FE III-V on the GC or Revolution.

The difference between the look of the box is 200 000!! That's amazing.

I mean that seriously. No average gamer knows the difference, so they just go with their color and Pokemon preference.

FLAWLESS VICTOLY!
Leaf Green and Fire Red were absolute fucking machines at the shop this week. Two shipments, selling out immediately. Ironically, at our store not a single one was bought by someone over (estimated) 18. Kids with cash in hand! I can't believe people mock the Madden shoppers.

What about younger teenagers, high schooler types?

yea, definitely. It's just weird seeing so much of that really young demographic coming in for one game. Sometimes both colors (quite a few actually). The numbers on this game are going to be ridiculous.

I thought the variation between the 2 versions was due partially to the fact that Nintendo does not ship them at a perfect 1 to 1 ratio.

Kind of ironic in that there are third parties out there that mock the pokemon games, but yet they would piss blood to have been the ones to have published them.

They're no longer tracking POKEMON VOL 1 and 2 by that name and now by the name on the packaging.. I'm not sure which is technically VOL 1 and VOL 2 but based on sales trends from the 2 previous months, I'm assuming "JOHTO PHOTO FINISH" is VOL 1 and "FOR HO-OH BELLS TOLL!" is VOL 2. The overall total would remain the same regardless if their individual totals were added to the wrong item though.

One interesting trend, it seems people picking up say one of the volumes of Spongebob are almost always getting the second at the same time (521 copies more of Vol 1 than 2, 62 more copies of Vol 2 of Fairly Odd Parents than Vol 1, etc.). I am surprised that Yu-gi-oh! has not done better more than anything.

With Christmas coming up, Majesco/Nintendo will definitely meet the original 2 million in retailer orders that were mentioned back at E3...

I really hope Majesco develop video technology for the DS as well; I think it'd help the DS gain an edge over the PSP, and the video quality could presumably be better than the GBA.

I'm really happy Pokemon Pinball sold as well as it did. Here's hoping they keep the sequels coming to that one, as it's possibly more addictive and fun than even Pokemon itself.

For what it's worth, I picked it up and I'm 25. So did my 28 year old brother and his 27 year old girlfriend, not to mention about 5 of my mid-20s friends.

I'm in the over 35 age group and picked up Fire Red on day 1. Pokemon is like videogame nicotine without the lung cancer, bad breath, and brown teeth. ;)

Don't need to catch them all as Lapras, Charizard and Jirachi are all a trainer needs. :D But is still fun.

I got Leaf Green the other day, my first Pokemon ever. I'm having a blast with Wartortle and (of course) Pikachu.

However, I'm wondering why I can't backtrack to the first village now that I have the "cut" move. I just beat Misty... when will I be able to return?
