Sakamoto said the world's fifth-largest DRAM chip maker was also in talks with Sony rival Nintendo Co. Ltd. (7974.OS: Quote, Profile, Research) to supply DRAM chips for its new game console, but that the final decision would be up to Nintendo.

Sorry if old. So Rev may have the same type of memory as PS3? Of course, they make more than just the type of memory going into PS3, but it's an interesting thought.

I thought the pS3 was going for X... ram something... XDRAM?

I hope Nintendo supplies the revolution with plenty of fast ram this time.

24 megs of main ram wasn't enough.

PS3 is getting Rambus Yellowstone memory, aka Rambus XDR-DRAM.

but what is Nintendo Revolution going to use, also Rambus XDR-DRAM or something else?

one of the very nice things about Gamecube was its 1T-SRAM which, although really DRAM and not true SRAM, acted alot like SRAM in that 1T-SRAM hid the latencies very well, making it seem more like SRAM to the programmer. or something along those lines. the transmition delay between processor or GPU and memory was pretty small, compared to traditional DRAMs, especially compared to the Rambus DRAM used in Nintendo64.
