Thanks Meier. That's some cash cow Nintendo have there. Just curious but how many days did the NES classic series have, was it about the 22nd?

Oh wow, and Pokemon is not even number one.... for the moment. This thread brings great joyful tears to my eyes. Thanks a bunch Meier.

Also, would you happen to know of FE's US total? FFTA as well. I've been curious.

Fire Emblem has had a pretty decent run. :) But Game and Watch 4 outsold it? That's crazy. I don't even know anyone who owns it.

Indeed, this is why I found that total so surprising, I didn't think it had actually broken a 100k. I never pay attention to sales, so eh, that's reason for it. I kind of felt the same about FFTA, it just didn't seem to be much of a hit at all here in the US. Heh, maybe I should pay more attention to these things, I see why people make such a big fuss over NPD numbers.

Well, Game and Watch 4 has been out since 2001 and the majority of its sales naturally come from 2001-2002. It consistently sells 500 copies or less per month (like Disney's Magical Quest, Advance Wars, Wario Land, etc.). If I had to guess, it's sold no more than 25k copies in the past year or two.

Also, Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire are now at 3,901,931 units sold. I think they will likely cross the 4 million mark by the end of July.. if not, it'll be within 10k units or less. I'm curious how its sales will continue after Fire Red and Leaf Green come out. I'm fairly certain it'll hit the 5 million total mark by the end of next year though (excluding sales of the upcoming Emerald).

Eh well, I'm not to concerned with R/S at the moment, but more curious as to how well F/L will do over here. It'll sell awesome of course because of the title alone, but I wonder if it'll go off as well as R/S after a while.

Oh Emerald hmm, does anyone have the sales for Red or Blue vs. Yellow, and Gold or Silver vs Crystal?

Great numbers all around, Mario Golf was available for only a week so 40k isn't bad at all and the Classic NES Series did way better than I expected. I think Classic NES Series 2 is guaranteed at this point. :)

Nintendo's of America's upcoming GBA release schedule looks good too...

07.26.2004 Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Games (AlphaDream)
09.07.2004 Pokèmon: Fire Red Version (GameFreak Entertainment/Creatures)
09.07.2004 Pokèmon: Leaf Green Version (GameFreak Entertainment/Creatures)
09.20.2004 F-Zero: GP Legend (Nintendo RD1/Suzac)
10.04.2004 Mario Pinball Land (Fuse Games)
10.18.2004 Kirby & the Amazing Mirror (HAL Labratory/Flagship)
11.15.2004 Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest (Rare)
11.29.2004 Final Fantasy 1・2 Advance (Square Enix Division 5)
12.06.2004 Mario Party Advance (Hudson Soft)
xx.xx.2005 Donkey Kong: King of Swing (Paon)
xx.xx.2005 Mario Tennis (Camelot Software Planning)
xx.xx.2005 The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (Capcom Studio 1/Flagship)

Those GBA videos really freaking surprised me sales wise. I'll bet if Nintendo (or Majesco or whoever) gets an Adult Swim license, these things are really going to take off.

I expect Fire Red and Leaf Green to sell 600,000 units each this September (give or take about 40,000) as long as retailers keep the price low enough. $39.99 isn't going to catch on with as many gamers. The selling period for the September NPD is long, and Nintendo will be sure to promote these titles with commercials as well as publicity for the new season of the TV show. Through the year I expect these two games to be at 1.5 Million apiece, and 2 Million by 2006.

The higher price tag is due to the 32MB ROM and bundled wireless adapter.

So... Where the fuck is FE6 Nintendo? And those AGB remakes of the SFC games too.
I think FE6 is lost... though rumor has it Seima no Kouseki will be showing up here alongside the GC Fire Embelm next year...

Wow. Nintendo has milked half of those "port" titles in that list and transformed them into $$$$$.

Nintendo ain't going nowhere.

Quite true, I never understood why people enjoy calling Nintendo the new Sega, or claim Nintendo will go third party because of GC's a failure and future "failures" in the console industry. Meh, Nintendo will alwayshave the gameboy line to live on, and I don't see them losing that area for while.

I personally can't wait to see how the PSP2 handles things against the next GB, assuming there is another PSP. Only because Sony isn't playing considerable hardball with the PSP enough for Nintendo to really worry about current GBA sales and the like. I think the DS is more likely to cut into PSP sales than PSP cutting into GBA sales and what not.

You're preaching to the choir here. Deep down inside I'm still hoping that NOA shocks me with some surprise Kururin, Mother and Starfi announcements...

Well with johntv mentioning a GCN Kururin the other day, perhaps if it is released outside of Japan/Europe Nintendo will release the original or its sequel alongside it on GBA.

Kinda makes you want to start a firebombing campaign, doesn't it? Though I think Mother and Stafi are more likely than Kururin, and in turn FE6+ is more likely than Mother and Stafi.

I share this feeling jarrod. One can only hope. The first Kuruin is already translated for Europe, it really shouldn't be too hard. I have next to no clue what's keeping Mother, and Starfi is just great I don't qutie understand why no one wants to do anything with it.

I thought I heard of them getting ATHF and Sealab eps, but it may have just been speculation.

What?! GameCube Kururin?! What did johntv say?

EDIT: nevermind, managed to find the post. I'm surprised, I recall Kururin Paradise bombing.

After checking on the Net, I do think it is Mbit, unless you can cite a game which is so large as 256MBit ??

Golden Sun for example is 64Mbit (8MByte)

so DS cartridge size is a big step forward

I thought they were the same sizes as an N64 cart, basically. I mean, they're holding FMVs and cartoons now, so I thought they'd be bigger than 4-8 MBs.

For 32MB/256Mbit releases so far...

-Tennis no Oji-Sama 2004: Glorious Gold (Konami)
-Tennis no Oji-Sama 2004: Stylish Silver (Konami)
-Mermaid Melody - Pichi Pichi Picchi Pichi Pichitto Live Start (Konami)
-Minna No Ojisama (Konami)

...plus every GBA Video release. Though now that I think about it, Pokemon FR/LG should be only 16MB/128Mbit (like RuSa).

edit-Most new GBA games are 16MB, though there's still plenty of 8MB releases. I don't think Nintendo offers 4MB carts anymore though...

I'm surprised. I do not know those Tennis games, but I own all Nintendo GBA games and I do not see what could worth a 16MByte cartridge ??

Oh there's tons of 16MB games. Out of just Nintendo's stuff...

-Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Games
-Fire Emblem
-Mario Golf Advance Tour
-Kirby & the Amazing Mirror
-Mario vs. Donkey Kong
-F-Zero GP Legend
-Sword of Mana
-Metroid: Zero Mission
-Pokemon Leaf Green
-Pokemon Fire Red
-Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
-Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire
-Pokemon Ruby
-Pokemon Sapphire
-Oriental Blue: Ao no Tengai
-Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
-Densetsu no Stafi 2
-Mother 1+2
-Golden Sun: The Lost Age

...plus other games like Kirby: Nightmare in DreamLand have used a 16MB cart in Europe to cover space for multiple langueages (which is why they're delayed sometimes also).

So GBA 2D games do hold as much space as Banjo Kazooie on N64 ??

Or are they using 16MB cart just because price has fallen and 8MB facility line is not worth to maintain ??

jarrod

Banned
Probably a mix of both, I doubt most 16MB games take up the whole cart, but if they could they'd likely use 8MB.

I think the wireless adaptor is really going to catch on and drive sales through the roof. One of the biggest aspects of Pokemon is the trading, but up until now, it has been somewhat cumbersome to do, particularly for small children who first must understand that they need a link cable, and then communicate that to their parents, and then have their parents buy them one. Bundling in a wireless adaptor with every game is a brilliant move.
