Nintendo Maintenance/Operational Status Thread

I'm in the Italian 3DS eShop right now, you know? :lol
I'm redownloading Mighty Switch Force, in order to see if that works. It's going slow. Very slow. But it's going. So, things are probably getting better.

You do know that 'trying to access the eShop to see if it works' isn't helping? :p
Personally, I'm gonna wait until tomorrow (at least) before downloading ZombiU, don't want to make things worse, even if I got inside xD

But still loads of people can't get in/download anything, and Nintendo hasn't updated their page. There's definitely some improvement if you can now download stuff, I agree.

Well, I tried just to see if the situation was improving, not because I wanted to make it even worse XD

MSF download is still going, but it's going at least. Hopefully, they'll improve their server capacity / I don't know how to call their online services endurance in the future.

EDIT: Aaaaand done. MSF is now in my 3DS again.

I feel bad for the people who got new systems with download codes. Personally, I'm actually kind of happy since I got a few eShop cards and this is forcing me to make a plan of attack instead of just burning through it willy nilly.

Funny thought: can you imagine if they offer some kind of apology freebie and the whole thing crashes down again.

I was doing a system transfer from 3ds to new 3ds xl... It went all the way through, then errored at the very end on the 3ds xl after the point the 3ds said it was all successful and formatted the system and restarted.

The new 3ds xl keeps complaining it needs to connect to the internet and erroring out. Hopefully didn't lose everything and after Nintendo is no longer hammered it will be able to finish.

I got the Zelda 3ds for Christmas, I was able to update it, but still can't redeem my code to download Zelda for the 2nd day running, very annoying indeed, has Nintendo even acknowledged the fault?

Nintendo and internet...

That. Is. Fucked.

No, too late. Reggie got your name. He's coming to your home to kick your capital B and show you Zelda U trailer.

Actually, the whole infrastructure was fine all year long, except when they launched the NNID on 3DS and at Christmas. They definitely need to increase their server capacity, though.

I got to Step 5 when it crashed for me (got the Zelda bundle for Christmas).

I'd love that! I have so many advices for them. XD

Seriously, I'm actually thinking of doing a series of threads about things Nintendo should implement / do in the future (i.e. when next handheld launches), and one of them could perfectly be extended to the whole industry. Maybe, someone over there will notice :P

Obviously, the main reason is to see what Neogaf think about those points and discuss about them, but what if Bill reads one of them while being in NoA Headquarters' secrets after having joked about Reggie's weight XD

well at least they have acknoledged it. Cant seem to figure out how to embed twitter posts, or I supose it is not possible

Not feeling like a truly historic Nintendo fiasco, but we really haven't had fuel this potent since E3 2008, have we?

Italian speaking, here.

Miiverse is finally back in action, on 3DS. It was still unavailable, even when I obtained to enter into eShop.

There are also some new communities

Bird Mania Christmas 3D
Banana Bliss: Jungle Puzzles
EDGE

I'm sure these ones weren't available before.

Yesterday I finally managed to access the eShop and I connected my eID/Wii U to my new Club Nintendo account. Supposedly this also counts as registering your WiiU and should net me 1000 points. However, if I look at my Club Nintendo, all I got was 250 points for 'making a temporary account'. Maybe it'll take some time for my WiiU to show up on the page?

If anyone has an idea what went wrong here and can offer some advice, I'd really appreciate it. I registered a game, worked fine, but the WiiU's not showing up. Can I try unlinking it from the eshop, then link it again?

Almost 2 full days without the store now in the UK, getting pretty ridiculous. Hoping they provide some kind of compensation, for us folk which only have a few days off of work it's frustrating.

I managed to get in the Wii U EShop again, make a purchase, and download it here on the West Coast. Has anyone else had the same luck just now?

I was able to log into the 3DS (US) eShop, got as far as the Pokemon update (just got Y for Christmas), but then it pooped out on me. But I sense they're on their way to getting things up and running.

my eshop is still down (eu), wanna update pokemon Y, as people are gonna give me free mons as im new

Looks like there's something new this mroning :

Question : are you from Europe?

Sorry for the double-post, but Nintendo's apparently doing some testing (according to Cheesemeister).

Tests restricting eShop access by country proved successful for Japan, so preparations are being made for access from others.

Looks like the eShop is back online in several countries. As usual, I'll post a message when the whole incident is closed down.

Really sorry for the triple post, but some tweets from Nintendo of Europe :

We apologise for the eShop connection problems. We know this is taking longer than expected, but finding a solution is our top priority. To improve your experience, we are temporarily taking the Nintendo eShop services offline between the hours of 10 p.m. and 10 a.m. CET.

Things are getting better, but access to the Nintendo eShop has been restricted (see post just above yours ;)).

Was in an awful car accident yesterday, lots of injuries (mostly minor) but everything survived bar my 3DS which is in need of a Nintendo repair. I suppose at least if eshop is down then I'm not missing too much while it's being repaired.

Though I suppose Wii U Miiverse and eShop is down too huh? Bums. Doodling on Miiverse would of been nice. But I guess I have steam and already-downloaded games. Besides, the rotating hours for eShop should at least make it operational now for areas right?

Sorry to hear that JennyTablina, glad you came off relatively unscathed.

The 3DS eshop is up for me at least this morning, had a few burps - but I managed to download Mario 3D land and a few demos.

Just got in and was able to redeem my four eShop cards here in the Philadelphia area. Seems operational to me, after being down the past two days this is the first time I got it up and working.

Was Steam World Dig on sale this week? I swear it was $8.99 when I tried to download it yesterday morning and failed, but I managed to successfully get it this morning for $6.99

NoA message :

We sincerely apologize for the connection problems in the Nintendo eShop. We understand this is taking longer than expected, but we can assure you that providing a solution is our top priority. We are determined to make sure everyone can enjoy all that Wii U and Nintendo 3DS have to offer. In an effort to manage the high volume of traffic and ultimately improve your experience, we are temporarily taking the Nintendo eShop services offline between the hours of 4 p.m. – 4 a.m. ET. Thank you so much for your continued patience. We will keep you updated.

Could acces the eShop and download Rayman Legends on my EU Wii U. Download speed is ok and the eShop speed was decent enough.

Just got into the US eShop a few minutes ago from my 3DS and was able to add funds to my account (yay BB eShop card sale!). Can't speak to anything regarding download speeds though. I'm still mulling over what goodies I want to download… Currently considering Crimson Shroud and Steamworld Dig.

You might want to make up your mind quickly, eShop will be closed for 12h in about 4h40. ;)

Technically, 7h30m; I'm on the east coast. :)

But yeah, I'm having a tough time deciding. I've heard good things about both, and they're both right up my alley.

Oh yeah, my bad, didn't realise it was not the same for EU/US. Personally, I hope those downtimes will stop next week.

I think you were somehow right after all. Even though the OP says 7pm EST, I can't get onto the eShop and it's only 4:55pm here. :(

Sorry for the late update, but looks like everything is back to normal. I haven't seen any announcements on whether they'll keep shutting down the eShop during the night, so I'm assuming it's still going on.

Acess might still be restricted during the following period (to be confirmed, haven't seen any announcement regarding this)
