mostly??? the blue ones are new games, Nintendo system exclusives, that's half of the list
- Mario Kart World
- DK Bananza
- Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
- Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment
- Kirby Air Riders
- Professor Layton and New World of Steam
- Fast Fusion

You consider that the best year one lineup of all time? Seriously? Those last four are barely worth mentioning.

Switch 1 beats that list with just Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey alone.

Lets see, comparatively the ones that have my interest:

S1
-botw
-splatoon 2
-mario kart 8 dx
-mario odyssey

S2
-mkw
-mp4
-dk bananza
-pokemon ZA
And strangely enough: botw again

I mean its solid enough i suppose. More options than what the other two had this gen (granted xbox's launch year was absolutely laughable)

Switch 1 was better, Zelda, Splatoon 2, Mario odyssey and Xenoblade.

We don't know Nintendo's plans after July but with information we have now I would give it to the Switch 1.

So many multiplats, we can play right now.

If you like playing 5 year old games that the world has already played through.

For everybody else, this is a mostly boring line up that moronic Nintendo fanboys will end up spending 2x more than anyone else would for the same experience.

Switch 2 is making Sony army nervous they know switch 3 is gonna have advanced enough tech to have some really beautiful graphics and can't be dismissed as not in the same competition with them or Xbox anymore that's gonna the next real console war since Xbox is currently weak

Switch 3 won't be till 2032-2033 at the earliest.

Not great imo but better than the other current consoles for sure.

The Dreamcast had the best line up to me.. at least for its time. I don't know about Switch 2, I need to play some of the games first.

Look, the only thing I care about is Switch 1 games running better and that's what I got, I'm happy because of that and newer games I will care about later will make me happier. Here's my list of upgraded games:
- BOTW -> Confirmed
- TOTK -> Confirmed
- Xenoblade 3 + Future Connected -> Pending
- Kirby ATFL -> Confirmed (with special chapter and RT reflections, wtf)
- Metroid Prime 4 -> Confirmed
- Bayonetta 3 -> Pending
- Link's Awakening -> Confirmed
- Echoes of Wisdom -> Confirmed
- ARMS -> Confirmed
- Astral Chain -> Pending

I never played some of them waiting for better performance or 60 fps mode so everything is going great so far, I'll get it asap, I'm already sold.

Also, the reason I don't emulate them to play in 4K@60+fps is because I like playing in original hardware, I pirated lots of games ages ago to emulate on PC when I was young and I know how troublesome emulation can get, more than I wish I do.

Also, whatever Monolith Soft gives me in 2026/2027 is gonna look amazing with better IQ, even if they keep same graphic quality.

Where is The Duskbloods confirmed to be released in the first year? Only thing I can find is it's scheduled to release in 2026. It would need to be confirmed to release by June in order to make the first year, wouldn't it?

Really good line up so far. The best for a first year? Well, we'll see, they have still a lot of things to announce, espacially third-party games.

A lot of those games are also superior on other platforms and also less money.
Not really, most third-party games looked nearly identical and are portable, which is the whole point of the system. And you also get sometimes somes exclusives bonuses.

That's all going to depend if you don't have a Steamdeck or gaming PC and you've got a stiffy for first-party titles or not.
Donkey Kong is the only game that looks remotely interesting to me, but I'm not going to buy a console for that. Had they opened up with a Xenoblade or big RPG like that I would have considered it, but now I'm going to see how things go moving forward.

Children went apeshit With the switch 2 announcement. The list only appeals to nintendo fans. A DK game Where DK looks for bananas shure appeal children and toddlers. And a kiddie kart game are not the best games at all.

FF X / Jak and Daxter was almost 1.5 years after Ps2 launch (16 months), MGS 2 1 year, 3 months... many of these titles are not within the first year. I don't care either way, just saying.
For Japan sure, but the rest of the world the PS2 released in 2000 October & November.
So them games was nearly everyone's people's first year experience with the PS2.

That advertisement is very misleading, most of the big guns actually came out in the 2nd year
Depends where you lived when it launched.
The games all released in 2001.

PS2 first released in Japan on 4 March 2000, in North America on 26 October 2000, in Europe on 24 November 2000, in Australia on 30 November 2000, and other regions thereafter.

Maybe we can only count the 1 or 2 months left in 2000 as the first year.
Perhaps that's the rules
Otherwise we're cheating ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If we're talking dedicated hardware, nothing touches current PC handhelds for launch content. PC will always be king overall though. Thousands of bangers, not dozens lol

We don't know the full first year lineup though

Some Good games for far, and I'm getting a switch 2 at launch,

But ps2 had GTA3, FF10, GT3, THPS3, DMC, Ico, silent hill 2, red faction, street fighter ex3, dark cloud etc
Oh and metal gear solid 2

GameCube had smash bros melee, pikmin, thps3, rogue squadron, Mario sunshine, Luigi's mansion etc

Switch 1 had Zelda botw, Mario odyssey, splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2, Mario rabbids, ARMS, Mario kart 8 deluxe etc

Context is key…nintendos first party support arguably stronger for switch 1 and GameCube

Ps2 first year was exceptional. Missing a bunch of games that at the time were big too.
