Fuck you U.S

Sounds like US/Canada will be unable to preorder the S2. I'd like to take advantage of that $50 Mario Kart deal but maybe I'll just wait for Age of Imprisonment and just play MP4 on S1.
I was very looking forward to MKWorld since I played unhealthy amount of MK8Deluxe but the game I'm most hype about is Donkey Kong Bananza.

That game looks fun as fuck!

Look, I am on here being snarky and making jokes.

In all honesty though, I fully expect Nintendo to have some form of video to announce new release dates, price, and explain to consumers the features of the console, and game carts more clearly. I believe this will happen in May once they have a clearer understanding of what is happening geopolitically.

We just have to be patient and pray nothing escalates any farther into something worse than a trade war.

That makes a lot of sense. Nintendo is probably planning on raising the Canadian price to offset any potential losses from keeping the US price at the previously announced MSRP.

Probably April 17th during the Direct honestly.

Don't worry my Canuck friends, Governor Mark Carney will talk to the President to get this solve. The 51st state has nothing to worry about.

So Nintendo fears that people buy just in Canada and import stuff over the border into the US and A?

I agree, assuming they did not manufacture them in China.

Nintendo moved a bunch of their manufacturing capacity to Vietnam, which is why these tariffs would have been disproportionately harmful to them.

Have to imagine that we'll get an announcement about preorders opening in the US and Canada very soon.

I would assume. It feels like it is literally changing by the day. Regardless if you think Switch 2 is reasonable or not, it feels like maybe more bad could come later and Nintendo has a window of time now to move as much units as possible.

Yep, we'll probably hear tomorrow or Friday about preorder starting next week Tuesday or Wednesday. I think they'll want them going before the Mario Kart direct.

The 90 day pause will expire after the Switch 2's release date, so Nintendo really has no choice but to make a leap of faith now based on the information they have available to them.

It'll suck if talks with Vietnam fall through and they have to raise the price of the console soon after it releases, but they're a victim of unlucky timing and they will have to adapt to the situation on the fly, just like how the current gen consoles had to adapt to the realities of launching mid-pandemic.

Alright Nintendo...ship a bunch over now, start those preorders, and send me an invite. I got hundreds of Switch gaming hours, paid member for more than a year, and I get your stupid emails.
