There seems to be a certain segment of the population that gets off on seeing other people distressed/suffering, even if it means shooting yourself in the foot. Like you've gone against your better judgement and made things bad for yourself, but the thought of someone else freaking out keeps you warm at night. Like why? What kind of childhood did you people have.
If Suffering is not buying a plastic toy because it's a bit more expensive then i wonder what type of childhood you have had?

I wonder if all the kids caught up in wars and have lost family and friends at the moment will have some sort of empathy for the gamers

We knew they were coming, while Vietnam was a bit higher. I honestly assumed they built $100 into the cost already, this shouldn't be more than a $400 machine, see Japan cost. I guess, it's wait and see what happens with negotiations.
We knew they were coming but had no idea what the percentages would be. 46% tariff on vietnam isn't a "bit" higher, and 100 dollars would not cover that (assuming they built in some price to begin with). They are likely selling the console at a loss in Japan.

Glad 70m retards voted for Trump lol.

Reality is they probably took tariffs into account with the price, they just didn't account for the ridiculous chatGPT tariffs that actually came.

And this is just the beginning. Sony and every major publisher is having this conversation right now.

I don't think it is that. It feels like we are watching a real life geopolitical "Jerry Springer" episode. Or WCW/NWO in the 1990's. It seems so surreal.

AND in fairness, it does feel as though many companies have price gouged since the pandemic and it feels as though the consumers have had an enough. Remember the $8 eggs in the US Or $100k trucks?

For example, my house have over doubled in value. But i need to buy a different home, and i can no longer afford to move up, because everyone around me has doubled also. Americans and many other countries are feeling the pain and have been for half a decade at least! That is crazy.

I don't see the problem.

All Nintendo need to do is open a factory in Ohio and make the Switch 2 there. There's still enough time for them to get it done.

Silver lining: Getting one at launch for $549 or $599 won't be a problem then. Assuming you're still employed it's not that bad!

They absolutely are selling the console for profit, we know the chip has been done for years, they have the margins. Yeah they didn't know Vietnam, but part of the margin $100, plus higher game prices should have supplemented it. IMO.

The costs of producing them in the US would make them more expensive still, not to mention the parts used to make it (for example the chipset) would still have to be imported and tariffed.

Same party constantly going on about DEI hires, which has bled into gaming, is the same one responsible for pricing people out. Its like an anime betrayal...🤣🤣

Well don't vote for a dumb like trump/musk and worse Musk is foreigner.
I was banging the kamala drum on principle because I knew shit like this would happen ignoring all the other bad stuff about the Annoying Orange.

Just sucks that the price of everything I like has to go up just when I hit adulthood.

I seriously thought this price was taking into consideration that tariffs were going to happen...jesus christ this is fucked if they think of raising the price more.

Next to the needed semiconductors you won't find people willing to work for one buck an hour there. It will always be expensive.

They most certainly did take it into account. But no one knew just how ridiculous orange man was gonna make the tariffs.

As an accountant that had to deal with the tariffs the last time. They already baked the tariffs into the $450 - $500 price . I 100% guarantee you. They didn't announce those prices right before April 2 knowing damn well what Trump was going to do.

If they raise it again (which Nintendo will because their greed knows no bounds) they are just double dipping. It is also a good way to get people to stop shitting on Nintendo and to shit on Trump instead.

So what's the worst case scenario for prices? 110$ for Mario Kart & 630$ for the base unit.

Game prices shouldn't be affected by tariffs.

I don't think it's unrealistic to think we might see $600 USD for the Switch 2 hardware now. Hoping for $500 though.

so the dollar to the rand is about 1 to 20, bounces about, currently 19

So that means the NS2 at 500 with MK should be about 10K Roughly.

as you can see, we getting fooked, ain't no tariff causing that increase, so if anything as i said earlier, welcome to the club Murica.

This is what we put up with all the time.

Imagine paying $630 usd for a switch 2 with mobile graphics.... Couldn't be me :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: . This thing might actually bomb like Wii U due to tarriffs.

It's a bit ridiculous to have to cancel reservations two days after the announcement. We'll see what price NS2 stays at or if they raise it.

Companies have to raise the price because of the tariffs that's a fact. The question is if they go further than the asked tariff.
Another question is if they'll lower the prices once they are over. My qualified guess is no.

What people aren't understanding is this is going to domino across not only the gaming industry, but nearly every industry. This is not limited to Nintendo. This affects all kinds of manufacturing world-wide.

Average folks are not going to be able to afford virtually anything sooner rather than later.
