Nintendo Switch Previews are coming in

Guys, has anyone found out any japanese version Switch preview, I just wanted to confirm that you can also change languages.

Thank you!!

Yeah, I heard there's not option for them now (somewhere in this thread, I'm feeling lazy tho). Nintendo has outright said it's possible, so I hope it's sooner rather than later.

I'm considering getting Apple Airpods so I can look like a tool.
No word on Bluetooth headphones?

Actually, you can already use it: http://nintendotoday.com/switch-bluetooth-headsets/. It works for both wired headphones and wireless bluetooth headphones (both are mentioned directly in the original French interview).

I had no clue how important an Activity Log was to people. I think I looked at it twice the whole time I had my 3DS lol.

Eh... I think we've just got the vocal minority sounding off about it. Not saying it wouldn't be nice to have, but opinions like that are hard to gauge via sites like Gaf.

I'm getting a Switch + Zelda day 1, but right after the presser and these new previews coming out, its pretty clear that it's rushed

The only thing that will truly disappoint me is if Wii U Zelda runs better than Switch. Then I'll regret getting Switch at launch.

This is my big apprehension right now.

That and I am flummoxed that they wouldn't have the foresight to include VC when their glaring weakness in a gaming-only system (read: no Netflix) is a lack of games.

It's BotW....in portable mode. I'd say 3 hours is pretty okay considering what it's running.

So was Wii Party U and that game is great at parties. Amiibo Festival and Mario Party U are also great despite their shortcomings. If the parties I host have fun with those games, 1 2 Switch will be a blast.

I'm sure 1, 2, Switch could be fun, I'm just not interested in it beyond testing out the HD rumble features. Nothing about the footage I've seen makes me want to drop $60 on it.

You hosted an Amiibo Festival party?

Has anyone tried charging with a Standard USB to USB-C cable, for example a portable charger with only standard USB ports? Does it work?

Not feeling the title screen for Breath of the Wild. It looks like something you'd use for a demo preview. I was thinking it would be showing the landscapes or Link riding his horse.

same, OOT's intro is one of the best ever, TP replicated it and it was great as well.
Having Link on a horse riding around hyrule would have been sweet, not just character art switching every few seconds. with little or no music... intro screen music, though not important, is nice (OOT/TP/both Xenoblades for example)

I'd assume there should be a language option in the system settings, but some clarification would certainly be nice.

The Switch is definitely coming in hot and the only reason they can do this is because of Zelda Wii U port. If not, this console would be delayed.

Yes, it's a big deal. Particularly without a trophy system or any form of meta tracking whatsover. Every competing platform and even current Nintendo systems has one or both of those things for a reason. "lmao" all you wish.

The whole "not at launch" part seems like a disingenuous defence as well considering the feature was present for both the 3DS and Wii U at launch and Nintendo have not stated it would be added later. There's no reason to presume this or any other feature will be added later.
There's no reason to presume they'll never be added either, since you don't know what their priorities were in designing the OS. You also don't know what their update plans are.

I believe they will integrate Switch games with MyNintendo, so that you get coins for reaching certain objectives like with their mobile games. I honestly thought they were going to keep Miiverse and add stamps as a trophy sistem that you could also use in Miiverse (would be cool to get that super rare Zelda stamp and show it off with your posts on the social network), but apparently they decided to cut that. Anyway if this is really THAT big of a deal to you, you can still use the parental control app to keep track of your gaming habits. It's not as ideal as having it on the system, but hey, if it's something that you truly need, you'll probably take what you can get from the beginning.

I agree, it's literally free advertising, Nintendo would be foolish not to ensure the best quality images are being shared.
Yep, exactly.

Your avatar colors are backwards?

The neon JoyCon set sold standalone has the colors backwards.

Perfectly in line with what Nintendo advertised. Any clue about what brightness/wifi setting were they using?

This is pretty much a soft launch before a big marketing push for the holiday season. Get the core in early, then in 6-8 months do a big marketing push with Zelda, Mario Kart, Mario and Splatoon at the forefront. Show NBA 2K18 and Skyrim in the ads as well. If they keep stock up, they'll probably sell a healthy number of units. Especially with Black Friday deals. Without core fans sniping stock as it comes in. IMO it's pretty smart.

By then hopefully the OS/online features will be more fleshed out, too.

As someone getting this thing for Zelda and to have a nifty new gadget, I'm not too bothered by a lack of features. I hope they come eventually, but it's clear Nintendo's goal was to just get this thing out and in the hands of core fans. Their next big "beat" for sales will hit in the fall, and it'll feel more like a fleshed out console around that time.

I'm also not bothered because I need to find time for Mass Effect: Andromeda, Persona 5 and Nier Automata.

Yeah it's clear what Nintendo is doing. Getting the hardcore fans in from the beginning. And building up Month after month. By fall all online services and media apps should be there. Mario, Splatoon, Zelda, Arms and whatever else will already be out.

Nintendo will put a lot of people in the holidays. Expect to see FIFA bundles too.

I had to go back to my 3DS and check if I had an Activity log .. didn't even use it. And, GAF is just a really small part of the gaming world.. I can understand why people can be bothered without having it, but I bet majority doesn't even care.
And I'm not bothered either, but I think there have been good posts about why people are bothered. See Griss on using it for time management.

The point is not "what side of the issue are you on?" but being able to see what may or may not be concerning to others and how much that concern makes sense, in light of the standard features of a console or a Nintendo console.

Whatever. 1 2 Switch looks awesome to anyone who doesn't just play the same generic games over and over again. I like video games to be unique and social, the best Wii U games were the 4 player party games.

Nintendo Land 2 when.

I literally just played it at a party this past weekend with people that had never played a Wii U and it was awesome. One guy thought it was the Switch.

Why the reaction? Is there something better out there in this form factor?

You literally have to go back to DS and PSP era for better battery life on mobile gaming devices. Smartphones are even worse if you play any demanding game (and it will not look or play anywhere near as good as BotW).

Yeah I can agree with this. Mixing the "character art on generic background" with art like the one on the boxart also seems weird. It should have just been the box art with some quiet Piano music or something playing in the background.

Since the Xenoblade team working on it, I thought it would have been a cool homage for the title to be on the rusting Master Sword. Also there's no music. Which kills the feeling like you're embarking on a adventure.

I can confirm that at the moment, there is no bluetooth options at all in the System settings.

Interesting. Is there any reason for this?

Yes, so OCD people can have a full blue or a full red Switch

I'm still in on this half-baked console. At this point it's just a Zelda machine. The fact people are trying to downplay real issues is hilarious

the buttons and analogue sticks look so tiny based on that comparison next to dual shock 4. i had to buy rubber stick covers to make them bigger for DS4 since i thought those were too small.

I hope this stuff gets added with a day one patch. Virtual console should be a day one thing considering they've had years of practice.

You can't use the "its a gaming machine only" excuse for that one either.

There's no reason this thing shouldn't have a large portion of Nintendo's library day 1. Inlcding GC,n64 snes, nes, and DS,

Or they waiting for hackers to do their job for them?

I'm not saying there's zero credibility to it, but all the "soft launch" talk seems a little cringey nevertheless.

People keep using that word without knowing what it means. A literal soft launch would be if they had only produced something like 10,000 units and distributed them via MyNintendo as a test for a full launch.

You don't produce mass quantities of something, run superbowl ads, get John Cena to come to events, for a literal "soft launch."

A lot of the "parties" some people in this thread have described - where Amiibo Festival and Nintendo Land are hits - sound like exactly the type of atmosphere where 1, 2 Switch will be a resounding thrill.

Also they sound like they're populated by stuffed animals and friends of grandparents.

Already have a Wii U, so if Im really eager to play Zelda, I can just get it to the Wii U. Street pass, don't give a fuck. I freaking love stats like how much Ive played a game, so activity logs is fantastic for me, abslutely terrible it isn't on launch. I love to check my playtime stats on Wii U, 3DS and playtime on Steam. No Netflix and YT is also a deal breaker for me.

Feels very rushed. Will wait til christmas.
